If you are planning to continue working in metal, especially if you go into death or black metal, I'd recommend practicing blast beats (Freehand Hyperblast may be an interesting thing to learn if you want to go more into extreme metal; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fDGVg9Ou90 ). I also very much agree with the previous statements about not being able to hear the bassist. I myself am in a black metal band (founder/songwriter/lead vocalist) and I try to write some places in the music where the bass becomes more prominent. I also use an interesting technique when working on the instrumental aspects of the song; instead of the guitar leading the music, I organize/mix it to where it sounds like a battle between bass and guitars for dominance (kind of like how At The Gates does it, but not with so many transitions).

@bud, nice @2017 i've gotten decent at blast beats. that song doesn't really have any, but we have a few unreleased songs with blast beats. sadly, they will never be released... lol b a man

thanks. the guitar, bass and vocal tracks on the recording were crap tho. they didn't want to sit down and take the time to record em, so those were all their first takes. i actually made sure to do my best with the drums tho, so the drum tracks are good b a man
