I saw the concert with Suicide Silence, Korn and Islander and I have to say Islander was one of the best opening bands I've ever seen/heard. I would also like to hope the singer of Suicide Silence that died sounded better than the guy who was singing at that concert. You know that squeaky sound your shoes make when you kick the bottom of your foot across a recently cleaned floor do that next to a mic and that's exactly what the guy sounded like. Also I couldn't really hear the vocals of Korn very well the crowed was over powering the singer and shouting the vocals (It was awesome)

Actually DrAwesome, I have listened to the entire album of Pinkerton and Blue. You're forgetting that I listen to both 90's and 00's alternative and that Weezer played a part in both. You assume that I've only listened to the singles and not the entire album. My least favorite song from Weezer is "El Schorcho." It's no secret I'm a pro wrestling fan. They were influenced to write this song after watching an ECW taping featuring New Jack. Granted, New Jack is my least favorite wrestler, but if you watch an ECW taping, that song surely doesn't come close to ANYTHING ECW had to offer. My second least favorite song is "My Name is Jonas." I hate that track for many reasons. The vocals, lyrics, meaning and riff are all just wrong to me. Yet, the meaning of the song is what pisses me off. If your brother gets into a car accident (in which no one dies) and is suffering from insurance issues, why the hell are you implying death? Sure, reflecting on life in general after an event like that makes sense, but implying someone died is just...wrong. Then, we have my third least favorite song. "Buddy Holly." One of the primary reasons I hate Weezer is their guitar tone. Especially in this song. I use a rose wood Dean Avalanche that is accompanied with a humbucker, and a Fender Mustang I amp. I can get a pretty kick ass southern rock tone out of it as well as a 50's sound, which is something that Weezer tries to replicate. How is it I can get a better 50's tone than they can? I don't know what they're doing with this track, but it surely isn't reminiscent of anything from the 50's. All they had to do was try and use a Beach Boys tone for it. It's not that hard to get. Not to mention, I disliked the melody of the song. It seems like they were trying too hard to make it like something from the 50's, and not letting it flow naturally. That's why I dislike both the Blue and Pinkerton albums. They try too hard to incorporate 50's era influences with 90's alternative. I'm not a huge fan of RHCP, but they incorporate both into their tone better than Weezer. Sure, a Friscante tone costs roughly $1,000 in new equipment, but it will certainly suit what they're trying to do. My personal pick for the best 90's alternative band would be Smashing Pumpkins. Billy Corgan is a WAY better lyricist and has a lot more vocal range than Rivers Cuomo. Less we forget his sound was WAY more alternative sounding than Weezers. Sure, Pumpkins incorporated more hard rock than pop into their sound, but Weezer had no idea how to work a distortion pedal or any effect pedal for that matter. They probably couldn't tell the difference between treble and gain.

Woah, DrAwsome is getting pretty defensive right now. He didn't like how I used big boy words like "treble" and "humbucker." It's impossible not to know who the Beach Boys are. Especially since they helped usher in rock music during the 60's. If you haven't heard "Pet Sounds" or "Endless Summer" by now, that's pretty sad. It's almost as sad as Weezer is trying to use an Ibanez to make borderline pop music.

Its like the time someone who thinks he knows everything about music whose never picked up a instrument walks up to me while i'm listening to Slipknot and tried to tell me they were a talent less band that played the same rift over and over. I only used the fancy word Pinch Harmonics and he backed off.

>He gets upset when you use big boy words, that's all. lol okay, you didn't even use any weezer is literally power pop so idk what your point about them being poppy is, yeah duh

>Weezer is literally power-pop so I don't know what your point about them being poppy is, yeah duh Why were they involved in the ALTERNATIVE ROCK movement if they're power-pop? Oh yeah, because they are alternative! Duh! They're just accepted by the pop sub-culture of music because they have pop qualities. They release a few power pop songs per album to satisfy the pop listeners, but they're generally alternative. They're just not good at it, that's all. Like I said, the best alternative band during the 90's is Smashing Pumpkins.
