If I was to make a game that teaches people Lua, would Robloxians play it? What makes you guys want to learn Lua, and what keeps you from doing so? I aim to remove most of the major road blocks in the tutorial by featuring an inline script editor and highlighter as well as syntax checker in the lessons. That way you can read a paragraph and do a simple experiment right below. As you progress, you can rank up by getting good scores on exams and completing the lessons. What should be the large end goal? To get the highest rank and be able to tutor other people, or work on a project for a "capstone" before you get the final rank given by me in person? Anything else I should add?

don't try to create that it won't do people any good if they want to learn, they have the roblox wiki and the forums, and that's enough for anyone who is willing to learn for themselves

If you did this, you had better be extremely proficient with Lua, or else you risk spreading misinformation/being unhelpful. Not that I doubt you, I've just seen a few poorly made 'tutorial' games make their way to the front page. ~Upload code to codepad-dot-org with Lua syntax highlighting to preserve indentation and make it easier to read!~

I plan to be better than the other tutorials out there for a few reasons. I'll just list them here: Nice physical environment Lua Editor (with highlighting and maybe syntax checking later) Exercises in lessons Exams to help students know how well they understand Positive encouragement with a rank system Correct information (I plan to have a report an error button always visible) Response to feed back (donate for a cause button, stating what you want made with variable donation amount) My experience (I've taught about 5 people lua now and the college students I tutor in c++ and java call me little sensei because I'm half their age)

Cool. I personally think you should do a course system, where you say pay R$ for an intro course, then an intermediate course, and then an advanced course. You could then add off-roads, say learn how to script a gun. But to REALLY give your one the edge, you should designate an account to do individual questions. I personally can script, but when I couldn't I struggled with these in-game tutorials, and poured a lot of money (2 or so thousand) to them before I saw results better than the basic game.Workspace.Part.Transparency = 0.5 Wait(10) type thingy.

I like the course idea. I think that a lot of people struggle getting beyond the one liners because we only teach them how to code, not what to code. I will make sure to cover topics such as pseudo code and design. The game will be designed to take them from nothing to a true scriptor, and give them the tools to get there. As for the paying... I was thinking that payment would discourage or make them become inactive if they don't have the Robux. I could make their three visits free and then have them select if they want to pay a small daily fee or a larger and more efficient sum for weeks or months. Taking the higher level courses could be a one time unlocking fee and lessons can be unlocked for a fee if they don't score high enough on tests to unlock them. Donations for needs and just random donations will also be an income. Any other ideas?

Yeah. When they are learning how to code objects etc, put them in an environment with the object infront of them on a base plate. Also, give them F3X tools usable only on specific parts?

Yeah, make the first few lessons free, then you have to pay to unlock the next lesson. And you get 1 free unlock each day.
