Other than the risk of them copying official Roblox hats (which can be moderated anyway), why not?

"which can be moderated anyway" Then everyone would use this feature and there would be way too much stuff to moderate.

@Poke Roblox has enough moderators to sift through 100's of decals, models, shirts, pants, sound clips and places, so they must have enough to moderate user-made hats.

And not everyone would use it as soon as it came out - not everyone on Roblox can create 3d models already (but the feature would help them learn)

This is a great IDEA!!

It'd be pretty educational too since there's a ton of jobs out there for people who can do 3D models.

@Crystal, Models and places aren't regularly patrolled by the moderation team unless they get a report. I'd also like to point out that shirts, pants, decals and sounds aren't complex assets. Images require a brief glance whilst sounds require 3-4 minutes to moderate. Allowing users to upload their own hats would have a moderation problem attached to it, mainly the fact that an admin would need to inspect every inch of the given object to make sure nothing is "hidden in it". For example, users could create hats which, at a certain viewing angle, show an inappropriate word. Alternatively, a branding may be added to the object which the admins can't see from the outside. This would likely be incredibly time consuming, and so shouldn't "be a thing", especially seeing how some people would "abuse" such a system.

Horrible Idea, retched. If players can make their own hats, imagine how horrible Roblox would be! Yeah, just great! Players actually already can make their own hats (Models) But they have to get published, to get sold. Signed, Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ נυηισя Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

It's a decent idea. To prevent people from making "horrible" hats or copying original hats, I think that you have to purchase something in order to be allowed to use this ability. A lot of people usually say "Oh well noobs will make dumb hats." but I wouldn't consider anyone a "noob". I sure wouldn't like it if someone called me one, just to point that fact out. :/ Half-An-Half Support/NoSupport c:

@junior Yeah but it almost never happens, it's for retextures only, it's not credited and they don't get the money from selling it. @data Custom hats could be reserved for OBC members as another incentive to purchase it, like devex, so that's less hats to moderate and more money for them. Moderators wouldn't have to spend hours looking at the whole thing, they would just remove a few vertices if someone hid something in there (which wouldn't even be visible when worn or displayed if it was "inside" the hat) and about the branding, they would be able to just view the texture by itself. It would take like 10 minutes at the MOST for all of this, in-depth, and there wouldn't be that many since it would be OBC-exclusive and 3d modeling isn't something a 12 year old can just do immediately without learning something about it first (before you say it's too niche or it's too much for them to learn, a lot of players take the time to learn lua so there's no reason they wouldn't want to learn this too)

I know that it would sort of "cheapen" the official hats but there's always price limits/floors. Maybe just being able to sell your own retextures? That would be more convenient since all mods would have to look at is the texture

Oh, and maybe a thing where you'd have to buy the original hat first to get a user-made skin

No support. ROBLOX in my opinion barely has any mods. I see bad stuff all the time that ROBLOX never catches.
