I will not answer the question "Is it 1517 or 2017 or something else?"
Find that out on your own. People that ask that just never read the story.

Chapter 1: Chain Reaction
5/13/17 6:37PM
It was a dark and stormy night. The waves were slamming against the side of
the boat like cannon balls. "Sir! We can't take much more of this!"
Just at that moment lighting struck the sail causing it to burst into flames. The captain was frightened. "How many life boats do we have?"
A man looked at the captain "Eight," he said. The captain took a long breath trying to keep calm. "And how many passengers?"
The man shook his head "162," he replied. The captain sighed. "We are going to have to wait this out."
Eventually, the storm grew even worse. It was like a toy being flushed down the toilet. Total chaos. The Captain’s name was Bloodshot. He started shouting orders but you couldn't really hear them. Most of the sailors just started throwing water out the boat with buckets. Captain Bloodshot started yelling as loud as the storm itself. "Drop all six anchors," he repeated. "We are not going to die here today!"
5 sailors are what it takes just too barely lift an anchor. 3 flew off each side and jerked the ship to a sudden stop. For most people the shaking ship and the sudden stop would make you throw up, but not Captain Bloodshot.
Captain Bloodshot isn’t a normal man. He was born in a warzone. His parents were shot and he was left alone. Don’t think this made him weak. No. This made him more determined than ever. His main goal was to survive. At the age of 10 he could lift 130 pounds like it was nothing. He taught himself his own fighting stile and at the age of 13 he could take on a 20+ trained army soldier in a melee battle. After 23 years he finally escaped the warzone only to come to nothing. He decided to become a fisherman because it was the only place where he could kill things legally and get paid for it. He eventually started to do it all the time and he became one of the best fishermen ever. He has won 26 trophies and 32 plaques. Bloodshot was born with no records and no given name, he had to name himself.
“What are we going to do,” cried a man. “We are going to do what I said. Follow my orders. First, we put out the fire on the sail. Second, we wait till the storm stops. Third, we get our prisoners to help paddle us closer to land. And lastly, I shoot up my flare.”
“Easy enough,” replied the man. He didn’t want to say too much and make the captain mad. “Well let’s just hope that you don’t fall off the boat, shall we,” Bloodshot said with a big grin on his face. “HOLD ON,” shouted one of the prisoners. A huge wave hit the ship throwing the man talking to the captain right off of it. “I told you so.”
Two hours later a helicopter started approaching the ship. “Who called the helicopter,” Bloodshot shouted. Marley was one of the head crew members. “It was me Captain! You wouldn’t believe the good reception AT&T gets-,” He was cut off by a hand around his collar. “This wasn’t part of the plan,” Bloodshot said. “But sir I thought,”
“You thought nothing!”
The helicopter was going through the storm, surprisingly they sent one. There was a crate on one of the waves. “Watch out,” shouted Marley. The wave wasn’t high enough to hit the helicopter but the crate was. The impact ripped the tail off the helicopter sending in hurdling to the ship. “Get down,” shouted the Captain. The helicopter’s propeller ripped through the top of the ship like a knife to cardboard. The helicopter exploded from the back up, sending over 50 people flying off the boat. “MARLEY,” shouted Bloodshot. Bloodshot tried to stay calm but it was a little hard in a situation like this. “Are you still alive?”
“Over here captain,” replied Marley. The boat was flooding and it was already half under. Marley got slammed by one of the sails and his leg was stuck under it. “I’m stuck!”
“Don’t worry,” replied the captain. “I’m going to get you out,” or so he thought. One of the ovens was on when the helicopter hit and the fire spread throughout the cabin. The fire ignited the gas and boom! The explosion sent wood and metal debris soaring through the air. It was like a battle field. “You’re gonna make it,” shouted Bloodshot. He didn’t expect a flying pan to hit him in the head. Whack!
Bloodshot woke up feeling sore. “Where am I,” he said. Of course, no one was around to hear him. He got up and looked around. “A beach,” he said. Bloodshot was smart, there wasn’t one thing he didn’t know about the ocean. “The current is going north and our boat was hit just in the middle of nowhere. It could take days to float to the nearest island.”
Bloodshot notices that his watch is still working. It read “3/16/09 5:36PM”. It’s been a couple of hours. He thought. We must be on an uncharted island. “Hello,” he shouted “Is anybody there?”
His voice echoed through a small cave. Odd, he thought. He went in the cave and noticed a woman lying on hammock with a fur blanket. He reached his arm over and grabbed her shoulder.
She bolted up almost thrusting a spear right into his heart. “Careful,” he said “you almost killed me.”
The lady was standing firmly on the ground pointing the spear at Bloodshot. It was like she thought of him as a threat. “What are you doing here,” she said. Bloodshot raised an eyebrow “My ship went down and the currents led me here.”
“Yes the currents,” she replied. “They bring a lot of stuff here but never people.”
She lowered her spear.
“Do you know of a way off of this island?”
“No. It’s been two years and not a single boat has gone by.”
The woman stood up strait and reached out a hand. “My name’s Linda.”
“Bloodshot,” he replied while shaking her hand. “Bloodshot? How did you get that name,” she questioned. He ignored her and went outside the cave. “Do you have a map,” he asked. “Yes. As a matter of fact, I do. But what help is it? There are no signs telling us where we are.”
She handed him the map. “If the current is going north and are boat sank at about here,” he pointed at the map “I measured the currents speed on the boat and I was unconscious for about 26 minutes. So we are about right, here!”
He pointed at a blank patch of blue on the map. “That’s just water,” she said. Bloodshot stood up strait and replied “Exactly.”

Johnson is taking his monthly cruise. He has his own computer company. He invented, or stole, new computer software. This software helps compress the computer’s memory allowing it to hold 93 gigabytes of RAM. Johnson is so rich he always takes the finest cruise ship there is. His only request is “Make sure the ship has a swimming pool, a hot tub, and a nice, comfy bed.”
Johnson was taking a nap when this bald, 6 foot tall man barged in his room. “Sir! We gots us eh situation out here,” he shouted. That’s just about the time Johnson noticed the water at his feet. “What’s going on,” he said. The man had a worried look in his eye. “Storm’s a brewin’. If we don’t get to land soon, we might sink.”
There was no way Johnson would expect this on his cruise. He has never been threatened since everyone was afraid of him. “Okay. Cancel this cruise. Pull into the closest dock.”
“Yes shir.”
The man left the room taking a right to the control room. “Captain,” he shouted. “Turn that way. We are stopping at Ireland.”
“Okay,” the captain responded. The captain looked around sniffing the air. “I smell, smoke,” he deduced. “Go check it out Arvin.”
Arvin was the main bodyguard for Johnson. He is 6 foot 4 inches and he is strong enough to lift half a ton. His accuracy is so good that he could shoot a fly with a handgun.
Arvin rushed down to the lower decks. He sniffed the air. All of the sudden, he sensed danger. He sensed it! Like when you sense that someone is watching you. He turned to the room where they stored the passengers’ car. There were 3 because Johnson, Arvin, and Philip are the main passengers. One of the cars didn’t seem right. It was a 4th car? Arvin walked up to the car. He could smell the smoke. It was red mustang. He looked at the back of the car, no license plate. “OH CRAP,” he shouted. His voice echoed through the whole boat.
Arvin ran as fast as humanly possible. He slammed through Johnson door and broke it in half. Johnson looked terrified. He was about to say something but he was interrupted by a strong muscular man picking him up. Arvin didn’t even say anything and just grabbed 2 life jackets continued running. Johnson finally was able to take a breath. “Arvin! What’s the meaning of this,” he said. Arvin jumped into the water with the whole boat exploding behind him. There was a chain reaction and caused the gas tanks to explode throughout the boat. The air smelled like a short-circuited breaker and the noise was louder than a battle field. Although Johnson forgot all about that when he hit the water. 5 story drops don’t feel very good. Johnson came out of the water shivering. “What happened,” he said. Arvin looked back with a worried look on his face. “A bomb. In the belly of the boat.”
“Who would want to kill me,” questioned Johnson. Arvin gave him a look. The look someone gives you after you just made the stupidest comment ever. “Everyone,” he started “I can name over 39 companies that you put out of business.”
It was true. Not only was Johnson enjoying a cruise, but the ship was full of crates. These were carrying a shipment of the new computers he made. Or at least, someone else made. He managed to steal information from BETA. It was a computer company. These crates were huge. To save money, Johnson had required 6 computers per crate.

Martin is the main leader if BETA. This is, was, a computer company. They were developing software that could make him millions. This all ended when some crazed lunatic ran them out of business. It was a simple plan. He bribed a security guard to give him the pass code to the computers. After he got his information, he knocked the man unconscious and stole his uniform and pass card. He uploaded a virus on the lower floor computers that blocked all camera surveillance. This only got him as far as the 34th floor. The only way to get to the 35th was to have Martin’s card. So, he pride the door open with a crowbar. He shot Martin with a dart that put him to sleep for the weekend. The man stole Marlin’s laptop and escaped the building without a trace.
When Martin woke up he started studying. He was able to trace the dart back to the manufacturer. The only sells were to a man named “Johnson”. That’s when Martin knew what time it was. Payback time.
Martin called in one of his employees. “Philip!”
Philip came rushing into the room. “Yes boss,” he said. Martin is in one of those “spinning” chairs behind his desk. He was rubbing his hands together. “I heard you are going on that cruise this weekend,” he began,” I want you to take my car with you.”
“Why,” responded Philip. Martin put his legs on his desk. “Because I am delivering it to a friend. You won’t even have to see the car. My men will load it for you. And plus, I will throw in a bonus on your next paycheck.”
Of course, Martin knows that he is never going do to that. Martin is hardly ever generous. “Okay,” Philip said while leaving the room.
