"So #MLSCBA deal is done. Hearing lots of players unhappy w/final deal. I'm told 7 teams voted against it (KC, RSL, RBNY, NYC, MON, FCD, COL)" |

"then why did those ding dongs agree to it"
i think it was a majority rules kind of thing |
|
|
hmmmm thats silly
do you think it has something to do with the fact that the richer teams are the ones who agreed? i'm no MLS expert, but teams like seattle, toronto, and LA are the ones not in the disagreement list |

No because NYC, & RBNY are on the disagreement list also.
Looks like a mix of both rich and poor on there. |

I'm seeing why it was agreed to now.
It was essentially the same deal offered as last night, the owners just gave in to the demands of the length of the CBA. Owners wanted 8 year agreement last night, players adamant that they wouldn't accept anything more than 5-6. It'll be 5. Expires in 2020. |

So here are the major points of the new CBA, at least the known ones
1. League minimum salary nearly doubled from $37.5k to $60k
2. Free Agency for 28+/8 yr league exp.
3. 15% salary cap increase
4. 5 year deal |

"According to that source, a players' raise through free agency is capped depending on salary.
Players who are making less than $100,000 have a cap of a 125-percent increase of their salary, players making between $100,000-$200,000 have a cap of 120-percent and players making more than $200,000 have a cap of 115-percent.
In addition, the new CBA includes a minimum salary of $60,000, a substantial step up from the 2014 minimum of $37,500. The minimum will increase incrementally per year. The source said there was also an increase in the overall salary cap, though they could not immediately provide that number." |
