It's a "zombie" apocalypse book, but it was caused by an EMP attack on the United States, knocking out electricity and other devices, as well as killing the middle-aged population of the United States. So, if you were say 33- 65, you would be dead at the start. If you were a little kid, like 0-13, you'd be fine. If you were say 14-32, you'd be "changed" into a crazy cannibal person, with different effects on different people. And, if you were above 65, you'd be fine as well. The main characters of the story are actually in the "changed" section, but for some mysterious reasons somewhat explained later in the trilogy, they did not become crazy cannibal people. And all of this centers around a little Amish town in the Colorado mountains called Rule, and it's struggles to deal with not only the threats now, but the skeletons in their closet that have fallen out. I think it's a great topic for a roleplay.

"The special kind" EMPs are not designed to be wireless murdering machines "An electromagnetic pulse (EMP), also sometimes called a transient electromagnetic disturbance, is a short burst of electromagnetic energy. Such a pulse may occur in the form of a radiated, electric or magnetic field or conducted electrical current depending on the source, and may be natural or man-made."

I don't like the fact that kids and really old people are the sane ones left. We all know how both function in real life....

@above ikr Anyways, it would make more sense to have this be in Ohio then Colorado considering the Amish town.

An electromagnetic pulse (EMP), also sometimes called a transient electromagnetic disturbance, is a short burst of electromagnetic energy. Such a pulse may occur in the form of a radiated, electric or magnetic field or conducted electrical current depending on the source, and may be natural or man-made. The term "electromagnetic pulse" is commonly abbreviated to the initialism EMP (which is pronounced by saying the letters separately, "E-M-P"). EMP interference is generally disruptive or damaging to electronic equipment, and at higher energy levels a powerful EMP event such as a lightning strike can damage physical objects such as buildings and aircraft structures. The management of EMP effects is an important branch of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) engineering. Technically IT IS IMPOSSIBLE

Well, in the cannibal thing, that is almost possible. The electromagnetic disturbance could've caused high frequency sound waves causing major and constant headaches, causing people to eventually go insane. Just maybe not that insane.

What happened to the days when you could make a role play or book with unrealistic traits, and just be left alone? If you don't wanna join it then you don't have to, now go shut your hole and sit in your little corner of realism. "Done, with eight minutes to spare. Time to go grab a cheeseburger."

Adding to that: ITS FICTION. IT ISN'T SUPPOSED TO BE REALISTIC. "Done, with eight minutes to spare. Time to go grab a cheeseburger."

Picka, that role play was set in a world generally like ours. I mean that if you want to create a role play world in which things that normally don't happen, do happen, then that's yours and it doesn't do squat to anyone else. You can ignore it. However, the role play in speaking was set in a world where the only difference was a teeny tiny bit of non-existent technology, including the explosion of radiation that brought on the occurrence of super powers. "Done, with eight minutes to spare. Time to go grab a cheeseburger."

I actually quite like the idea of RPing as a 60-year-old man in a quiet Amish town surrounded by chaos and turbulence.

"I don't like the fact that kids and really old people are the sane ones left. We all know how both function in real life...." I like the idea but to some degree I thought this too. All I can picture is people making a bunch of incompetent 10-to-13-year-olds and being really obnoxious with it, I 'dunno why.

"no one can be obnoxious when your parents are dead" I have a feeling the typical twelve-year-old would manage. If you make rules for them not to be too annoying though then it's probably fine.

nno... pretty sure both of your parents dying from a heart attack and walking outside to see cannibals and cars with dead drivers smashing into walls will make you...not...obnoxious.
