Ao no Exorcist (Blue Exorcist) Fullmetal Alchemist 03 Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood All 3 ended, but for on-going, try Fairy Tail. Right now as of new episodes they're doing plenty of fillers due to the manga being only 2 arcs away. FT is too good to pass the manga or stop simulcasting. Try going to Crunchyroll, and look at the current Simulcasts.

"age-appropriate"? are you kidding me? when i was 12, i went out of my way to watch edgy stuff anyways, i'm just gonna recommend the best mainstream shows out there, look them up and judge if they're "age-appropriate" or not, i guess Gurren Lagann Cowboy Bebop Neon Genesis Evangelion Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-Chan Watamote Hellsing Mirai Nikki One Piece Chobits Assassination Classroom Fullmetal Alchemist Soul Eater have fun with those ones "disrespect your surroundings."

lmaooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo "age appropriate" there's hardly any age appropriate anime unless you want to watch Sgt.Kero which was like my favourite show when I was like 4, even that was risque.

Mah, south park is a cartoon, not an anime, and it's not age-appropriate for a twelve year old. Hell, according to the official age rating, it's not age-appropriate for me.

i'm not sure about ongoing anime. The only ones I know of are those dragged-out ones like Naruto which (as I've heard) is mainly filler after filler, or stuff like Pokemon which i used to enjoy but now avoid i can recommend finished anime though Death Note is by far the best anime I've seen followed by Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and Steins;Gate. but since you said ongoing, I guess a longer anime would suit you if it had to be finished, so go for FMA. Soul Eater is also an option but it's got some questionable scenes, but nothing vulgar shows so if your 'age-appropriate' requirement is mildly flexible, it should be fine.
