I'm not one to complain about updates, but this is actually pretty huge. This GUI cannot be removed, in any way, and it severely limits developers' freedoms.
The new GUI looks pretty nice in some situations, but in other situations is has no place at all. Let's say you are making a cut-scene, or a loading screen, you would not want that bar at the top totally throwing off the mood. Not only that, but it can't be customized either so if you want to have your own top bar it will be below the default one and just look silly.
Having something like this in a game engine is incredibly bad, it forces a certain style on to EVERY game created with Roblox. Let's say I am making a fantasy game with lots of gold trim and regal decals (think Hearthstone.) In that situation I do not want an ultra-modern gray rectangle at the top of the player's screen.
Overall a very limiting and unnecessary header. Something like this is great to have as an option for devs, but having it be required is terrible for an engine. |

I 100% agree, Roblox needs to stop being selfish and care about the players for once. The new GUI can glitch and it was (and still is) a confusion since I got it. What is the point for updating the GUI AGAIN?!?!?! Why not do something we NEED, like fix the rating system or add shoes (just a fun idea c:). We have been waiting for some co-operation from Roblox for YEARS. We started with the (ALL TERRIBLE DUN DUN DUN!) price floor, not it's useless MORE useless GUI updates? Admins are surely smarter than this.

Support. Even removing the transparency cap (which they added, but it is 0.5 annoyingly) would a good benefit, but allowing it to be completely disabled using SetCoreGuiEnabled would be better. |

You've said it, OP.
I'm from the Scripter's subsection, and we all agree that it is something that we would be better off without.
The idea of it is sort of cool, but it completely limits what we can do, and messes up half of our creations.
We hope at the very least, as a developer, you will be able to completely disable it. However, we would be equally fine with it being gone because it does in fact mess up everything, so everyone is going to end up disabling it, and everyone is going to come to the forum just to ask how if that becomes a possibility.
I recommend reverting it for now, and rethinking your design, ROBLOX.

It looks terrible. The old CoreGui was way better than this...
Why does it have to be some fat bar that takes up space and distorts our guis? You can't even remove that bar for crying out loud! What is the deal roblox? Plus the new little chat bar is terrible. It's smaller than ever.
If you want us to even deal with this CoreGui crap, at least change it back to the previous version. |

I personally don't understand why ROBLOX won't just give us the tools we need, and tell us make your own, rather than forcing a style on everyone.
It's a pain mathematically or graphically to make a health bar that's not just a bar (eg, you want a sphere and then a bar, the sphere will screw up unless you separate them and do lots of annoying decal uploads)
I really don't understand why not just let us do more with the engine as well?
Custom Materials, editing specularity (That actually works), mapping, texturing without the grey seam thing, etc. |

According to the live stream today they are looking in to changing this. They stated they need to have some way for players to universally leave a game, for that a small button like they had before is just fine. |

We should just be able to hide it. I agree with everyone here, it just messes everything up.
I can't wait until this is an option in CoreGuiType: "TopBar"
And to those who are suggesting to do the SetTransparency thing: All it does is make the bar opaque or not opaque, I forget which. It does not actually hide the bar itself.
The one thing I like is that we can hide the chat. |

0 transparency = Solid black top bar. Basically that makes it even more visible. A transparency of 1 would make it invisible, but ROBLOX decided to add a cap of 0.5 for some stupid reason. |
