Welcome friends, fans, followers, supporters, and people of all over the world! I am SupremeGeneration, BYM Staff Member and all around epic guy. Why else would I make this guide? The main contributor and helper to this guide also deserves a great shout-out, romega! This guide will help along your way of making mechs and will also help you get good into a great building game. Remember: no matter what happens, it’s all within you. May the odds be ever in your favor! ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Table of Contents: 1) BYM 2) Groups 3) Rules 4) Staff 5) Building Parts 6) Mech problems + Solutions 7) Making + Other Stuff 7.1) Weapons 7.2) Mechs 7.3) Land Vehicles 7.4) Air Vehicles 7.5) Armor 7.6) Garage Turret 7.7) Stabilized Moving Arm 7.8) Great mech advances 7.9) Key Terms 7.10) Pro tips 8) Tournaments 9) BYM Staff List 10) Post Credits ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Part 1: BYM BYM is the general acronym for Build Your Own Mech (also BYOM). BYM is a game inspired by many others, including but not limited to: Build Your Own Cybersuit by StaySpy - BYA by FighterGuy - BUB by B0BBA - B&R by Louis1199. The idea of BYM is to make a mech, as in a robot, to utterly destroy all others. Mech can also mean Mechanical, so a boat, train or a plane and something along those lines also works. Many great examples are seen on thumbnails and by the staff. Many people claim BYM was a stolen idea from BYC with a changed name, however I will not dwell on that as this is for anyone who wants to make a mech, I don't care if you're from BYC reading this, good luck on your future mech-making! There are many challenges you will face, but this guide will get you through most. Should there be anything new to add please say so in the comments below. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Part 2: Groups BYM has many groups, official and non-official, that help players get high up in mech making. http://www.roblox.com/My/Groups.aspx?gid=1050795 -- Official BYM Fan Group. Here you can find all the staff, current talk, and get help. This is where MAGIC happens! http://www.roblox.com/My/Groups.aspx?gid=1222080 -- BYM Mech Fixing Center. Here you find PROFESSIONAL help, with much to do. NOTE: They DON'T build mech, they FIX them! http://www.roblox.com/My/Groups.aspx?gid=1008246 -- Mech Makers. A group where you can collaborate with other great mech makers and be ranked to an appropriate level for you work. http://www.roblox.com/Groups/group.aspx?gid=1235265 -- BYM Wikia Group. Here people are working on the OFFICIAL BYM wikia, improving and making. http://www.roblox.com/Groups/group.aspx?gid=1241004 -- BYM French Team. This group is for French mech builders, where you can talk about stuff with your own people and your own language(if French). Any other groups will be added in due times. *NOTE* Will not add staff groups as were are not all staff. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Part 3: Rules Most rules are self-explanatory. The standard ROBLOX rules apply to BYM along with others: Don't troll: deleting parts, spam copying, etc. Respect staff: they work hard day and night to make the game a better place Don't start fights: arguments are unnecessary, they take away a point of the game. If you want to settle something, do it with some mechs not with stupid words. Rules aren't much, it's mostly the standard ROBLOX rules + anti-trolling and stuff! ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Part 4: Staff Chief Administrator---- The one who takes care of the community with things such as appropriate ranking and (if needed) wall clearing + in charge of a lot of other cool stuff. Administrators---- Have admin commands and patrol servers for potential threats such as hackers. These guys are the worst enemy you could imagine. Moderator---- Basically a high-authority helper, mad respect. Tournament Host---- Anyone above this can host tournaments, including but not limited to: 1v1's 2v2's, a classic 3v3. Film Maker---- These guys make a ton of cool videos for BYM, especially needed when hosting a tournament for proof... That gets rough. Helper---- These guys patrol servers helping those who need it. Great people. This here is your pathway to a great BYM Staff experience! ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Part 5: Building Parts Building Parts: Basic building block(s) for your mech! This includes cubes, wedges, corners, cylinders, and semi-see-through-glass. *Can be altered with tool 1* Non-Collidable Parts: This part is like a regular building part except it can be walked through. *Can be altered with tool 1* Seats: Using the labels on the seat you can use them for different things. Their respective names give them the idea of what you can do... *Can be altered with tool 1* Bomb Parts: Commonly known as "TNT" this dangerous block can pack a powerful punch when battling. *Can be altered with tool 1* Bumpers: These common-looking striped blocks are also dangerous. Each takes out one block, single use. *Can be altered with tool 1* Spikes: These are your main weapon most of the time. They are what kill players. *Can be altered with tool 1* Click-Delete Parts: As the name implies, you click the part and it auto deletes. *Can be altered with tool 1* Anchor Parts: They keep all blocks connected to it, and the ones beyond that, anchored. *Can be altered with tool 1* Click Door Parts: They, also as the name implies, are non-collidable parts that you click to make collidable. *Can be altered with tool 1* Follower Parts: You attach them to a block and release any block under said original block, and the follower parts follows it's respective name tag. *Can be altered with tool 1* Thrusters Parts: You attach these bad boys to a block and it zooms at a velocity of the number above the original spot. *Can be altered with tool 1* Hovers Parts: You add them to a block and it flies. Height depends on color-coded blocks with heigh number on top of the original block. *Can be altered with tool 1* Stable Parts: These parts make everything stay upright. The top part will ALWAYS be facing up, so your mech doesn't fall.*Can be altered with tool 1* Motors Parts: Also color-coded, these spin wild upon release. Strength of spinning varies on number on original. *Can be altered with tool 1* Light Parts: These are like regular building parts but with a catch: they have light! *Can be altered with tool 1* Sticky Parts: As the name implies, they stick to other parts. Used with hinges* -- *Can be altered with tool 1* ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Part 6: Mech Problems + Solutions .I: Stabilizer arms not working = Most likely the problem is either it still has the lock, and/or stabilizers are backwards/glitched. A Helper will help as needed, a trick is to have the main stabilizer and add a 'peg' to it, using the "+" tool and changing the texture of the front part of the stabilizer to rotate it and have he correct areas per stabilizer to lift the arm where needed. .II: Arms fall off upon mech spawn = If the mech is on moving arms, you may have to rebuild a mech because the mech has no lock for the arms. If no moving arms, you should be good, but still add locks in case. With the new feature, however, you may load your mech anchored and fix this glitch. .III Mech glitches and/or doesn't work = Wait a second before trying again or rejoin a different server because its most likely lag from other builders. If this doesn't work, try deleting a couple of parts and trying again. .IV: Mech doesn't move =This is because your mech has to many thrusters and/or is too heavy on one side. Just wait a moment for you to trip or for it to unlock. If this doesn't work, do as above, try reloading or joining a different server. If the problem consists contact a Helper or above. .V: Mech doesn't turn = This problem is common and has a good fix. You can add more bricks to the feet/legs and add a stablizer OR you can also put a long bar of a single seat down the spine (Note: this will increase shattering but it will help). .VI: How to make mech fly = Apply hovers on the mech on different levels and use different colors, as they have height dependancies. If you add a hover on the feet and a hover on the head, the head hover won't go as high because the hover on the feet will go to it's specific height based on where it's placed. It's a bit complicated... .VII Hover makes mech go underground = This means the hover is too high on your mech because your mech is too tall and you should either make a new smaller mech or simply place the hover a bit lower on the mech. Or maybe place a new hover. .VIII Moving arms (in general, not stabilizer) not working = Try deleting the lock, if this does not work try looking for spots that connect from the arm to the mech. .IX Tools not working/Tools not being received = Either wait a bit, or join a different server. This problem is now less frequent but still seen. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Part 7: Making + Other Stuff What good is a mechanical construction without weapons? Care on how to make a tank, or a jeep? Perhaps you’d like to make a plane or helicopter? Maybe the armor on your amazing mech isn’t as good as you’d like it to be?! All of that will be covered, along with making an auto-aiming garage turret and stabilizing a moving arm! We will also cover great mech advances and and Key Terms to know when doing this, along with pro tips to make your mech the best there ever was. 7.1) Mechs - “Mech” is short for the word “mechanical” and that is anything that can move. It could be modelled after numerous vehicles such as cars or planes or robots. The majority of mechs in the battlefield are large humanoids or large robots. Generally garage sized. The smaller the blocks are, usually it is stronger. Take this into moderation, as making a mech with 1x1x1 parts will consume the allotted parts very quickly. Look at pictures or let your imagination out, then depict that very idea with bricks and wedges of various sizes, and you will build a mech! 7.2) Weapons - Weapons are simply anything that can affect the opponent. From bumpers to TNT to spikes, there are many ways to affect your opponent. Make a mace, sword or anything that you desire! Spikes are the most important component of a weapon. They kill the opponent, winning you the fight. Bumpers and TNT just take off bricks of someone else’s. Use bumpers and TNT in moderation as many will dislike you if you spam. Bumpers and TNT are essential to parrying, or blocking with your weapon, and spikes make great for piercing. 7.3) Land Vehicles - Land vehicles are any vehicle meant to be on the land. It could be a car or a tank or anything else you can think of. Land vehicles can utilize wheels or special walker legs or the seat glitch which requires nothing. You can use thrusters to enhance your land vehicle’s speed. You can also add missiles or bumpers, heck some armor will make it look cool too! There are so many ways to do a lot of stuff. 7.4) Air Vehicles - Air vehicles are any vehicle meant to fly through the air. These utilize hovers or upward thrust. It could be planes or hovercrafts, or just about anything that flies! Once you are in the air, you can even turn on some thrusters that are angled to propel you forward. Air Vehicles are an amazing way to show off your skill. They can be modified into a battle helicopter, or maybe you prefer a passenger plane to give a ride to your friends! Whatever it is your heart desire, it is within your grasp. 7.5) Armor - Armor are extra bricks aside from your core that help protect important aspects of your mech. Some important things to protect are things that are crucial to your mech, such as your seat area, or your arms. Make sure to add extra armor where other’s TNTs are most likely to hit. Extra armor can even help to prevent pierce! Bumpers within your armor can also help reduce your chances of dying, as they can knock out enemy spikes. The downside is that your mech will be slower. Never give up. Today is hard, tomorrow will be worse, but the day after tomorrow will be sunshine. 7.6) Auto-Aiming Garage Turret - The Auto-Aiming Garage Turret (AAGT) is one of the more deadlier weapons of BYM. The basics of it is: you make a turret that aims itself at enemy mechs. To make one you first need to know the basics, which is a hinge, locked, with a missile and follower part ready to fire. The best tip you could possibly get is to add multiple follow bricks one before the other, in a horizontal row. This improves your aim and makes for less jittering. Another thing you can do is replicate the missile and test to make sure it shoots correctly, these things can take a long time and are sometimes hard to make, but a bad missile could spell absolute disaster. 7.7) Stabilized Moving Arm - A stabilized moving arm can spell victory for you in the battlefield. If used incorrectly, it can can also spell your utter defeat. You first need to make an arm, weapons, a grip (optional, just to hold your weapon) and of course: the hinges. Now, there are multiple ways to stabilize a mech’s arm but the easiest way is as goes: Grab a stabilizer and put it on the mech’s arm. Add a hinge to the top, so you know which way the force will take you. Now rotate it to the place you want the arm to move. The most common spots are up and down, and with a wedge you can also make it sideways. 7.8) Great mech advances - There have been many great mech advances over time. These include the Stabilized Moving Arm, AAGT, TNT, and walk-throughable weapons. A lot of these things have led to more and more powerful mechs. Things are still being researched, however, that will innovate BYM Mech making forever. For instance, the recent uprising in “Noob mechs” has revolutionized tournaments, and some people are even researching regenerative armor. What will you do? 7.9) Key Terms AMS- An active glitch where piercing is extremely easy. This is BANNED in tournaments. ARM/Piping- A somewhat active glitch, again making pierce extremely easy. This is also BANNED in tournaments. Acro- A fighting technique in which the arms are fixed in place and the user utilizes multiple stabilizer positions to maneuver. This is BANNED in tournaments. Ground Hover- Hover of any power choice that is strategically placed, so when activated, the mech is hovering, if not, touching the ground. This prevents “lift” as well as increase pierce. Lift- When no hovers are activated, a vertical strike will send the entire mech up/down. Pierce- When a mech weapon “noclips” into the opponent's mech without having it non-collidable. This is a major component of fighting. == 7.10) Pro tips - Throughout the course of BYM and it’s preceders, there have been many professionals whom have been making amazing mechanical structures. Some of the best tips include taking your time and doing your best. Detail is important for thumbnail, but power is important for destruction. A good tip is to choose one, whichever you like, and go from there. For thumbnail, you want amazing detail, but that sometimes makes a mech less powerful. For power, you use less detail and save most blocks for weapons and armor. Should you decide to veer somewhere in the middle, then the amount of detail will veer inside of the armor and weapons. Another great tip is to keybind your mech. That way, you don’t have to click stabilizers. You just click on keys to hover or stabilize your arms. The possibilities are endless! ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Part 8: Tournaments Tournaments are an extremely fun way to fight with your mech. Tournaments are organized fights against other mechs of different quality and other fighters of different skill. Rules do apply to tournaments to keep everything fair, and to view those, go to the following link: http://www.roblox.com/Forum/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=159393281. Tournament Hosts primarily host tournaments, however any rank above that may also host tournaments. Tournament Hosts will announce a planned tournament several days prior to the planned date over the group shout and up to 9 other people may sign up to participate within this tournament. There are numerous different kinds of tournaments, and more styles are being invented to this day! Tournaments don’t have to be mech only, they can also be land or aerial vehicles. Tournaments display the skill of each participant, from building skills and fighting skills. There are many kinds of tournaments including: classic tournaments, teamed tournaments, and unique tournaments utilizing a specific skill. A classic tournament is roughly 8 people and the loser of each match is eliminated until 2 people are left to fight for the winning title. A teamed tournament can vary on team size, but it is a few mechs working together against another team of mechs. A unique tournament focuses on a specific aspect of BYM and uses it to see special skills. This could be a starter mech tournament, where one would try to modify a starter mech to make it the best of their abilities. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Part 9: BYM Staff List Founder: Sharky99 Chief/CEO: DaHaloFreak Administrators: Zenuvius, lolsonic1234, Aesura, seanq2, Techman760, SpiderTamer, spicycat, armadillo10000, and Legionair2Victory Moderators: iDarkNova, sytrickzero, waterfall, and InventorISSAC1784 Tournament Hosts: SupremeGeneration and romega Film Makers: iChosenExcite, arnaldo01, McLovinMcW, hantr1998, VyrissTheDeveloper, iiDisasterTheVixen, BYMBallisticExpert, Neuroticxs, and 111poseidon111 Helpers: Zalvious, coolcave12, Ricider, dreamshatter, Uruquizas, roobarb2, Azrelite, Strxde, 0377, Linksword, MrLordKindOdin, ShadowTiger99 and Briefroboboy ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Part 10: Credits SHARKY99: First off, I'd like to thank this man for making the amazing game known as BYM, and for giving me the amazing chance to work with all the amazing people there. StaySpy, the first creator of any of these types of games, quit roblox because of this one idiot. Sharky99 should be perma-banned.

^^ Hah, sharky only took a game idea and improved it. StaySpy was obviously a sore loser and did what he did, IF he even did it. You have no proof of this do you? If his irl best friend said Stay committed suicide, wouldn't he be grieving instead of on ROBLOX? http://www.roblox.com/Forum/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=151852433-- read this m8, then complain Some Siggy. http://www.roblox.com/Forum/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=161720995

As a matter of fact, @ViridisLupus, you PERSONALLY stated that sharky isn't a murderer. If StaySpy committed SUICIDE it's not technically homicide. Some Siggy. http://www.roblox.com/Forum/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=161720995

"^^^ I actually just found out from his irl best friend who plays roblox that he actually committed suicide because of BYM.." Suicide is not homicide. Homicide = you killed someone. Suicide = They killed themselves. GG. Now, this is a help forum, if you want to argue go to another forum. Some Siggy. http://www.roblox.com/Forum/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=161720995
