An intelligent GM takes control of said character and writes them into situational stasis until they return so the RP will proceed. An unintelligent GM whines and complains rather than fixes the issue.

You can't just take control of a character played by someone else and expect A) the story not to suddenly feel awkward and B) there to be a lack of drama when/if the RPer comes back. It's smarter to try to contact the RPer and see what's going on. If they never contact you back, remove the character from the story somehow and move on.

You're all amateurs. On RPN it's considered a courtesy to do this and the people are usually happy for not meeting responsible of the RPs death. And it's not like you kill them off idiots, you simply write them out of current interaction and PM them such so that the RP can continue. You people are so ass backwards...
