That's somewhat true in a sense, but that's mostly because of the target audience and demographics ranging from pre-teens in middle school to near adult teenagers in high school. It's a pretty good marketing stature and we in America just eat it up. Literally, the slice of life aspect is almost on par in popularity with the action, horror, and survival genres. I myself tend to go for the Action/Drama/Mystery/Romance aspect of these few titles: Black Lagoon PsychoPass Heaven's Memo pad Samurai Champloo Btooom! Steins;Gate Gurren Lagaan Kurozuka (You'll notice that these selections are NOT based around school life)
