I have two different concepts that are both FPS's (possibly third person too). I'm not sure which to do, so tell me which you would rather play and spend your time at. I'm planning to have a CSGO kind of style, but this could change. All profits would be made off selling weapon skins in both concepts.
1. FPS Mini-games
This has a sort of Mad Murderer feel to it, but as an FPS. This would include many different gamemodes, for example hike up an alleyway hiding behind different cover while a sniper tries to pick you and your team off. Creative gamemodes like that, where you must complete an objective. There would be a lobby and credits.
2. MMO FPS
This would be your typical FPS game, but on roblox. This would use roblox's Universes feature for matchmaking. Just like in the minigames, you can buy weapon skins for your gun. I would try to add in unique gamemodes, like in the mini games. The key difference from this and the minigames is: 1. It teleports you to the game, because it will be on a larger scale, and 2. The games would be much longer than a minigame, and more 'dynamic'.
Tell me what you think, and any ideas, or what kind of style the game should be. Thanks! |

I'd like to see 2.
I'm waiting for someone to do a GTA Online style game (with out the whole front page scam crap), like when you join its in free roam, and it teleports you to different game modes. But I guess that doesn't really apply to your game. |

The closest thing I've seen to matchmaking is this:

And Phantom Forces is coming up. Don't know how it will end up. |

Last Strike stays on the same server
(unless its a new update I missed)
he just uses a GUI to simulate that cod thing |

Yes he does use one server. I'd use different places. This would make it easier to create, and easier to run on your computer because it doesn't load all games on the server. |

My only problem with #2 is that Phantom Forces seems to be doing the same thing. |

I hope you can do the seond one well. One thing I will say is that using a couple of severs will be a challenge when it comes to data. |

I changed my mind about teleporting for the MMO. I'd host all the games in one server, since teleporting can be annoying.
still looking for opinions |

I would do a combination of both,
Because what game is FPS and has various of game-modes to play from(like objectives *except COD, Battlefield, etc.*)?
ROBLOXians enjoy killing people as much as possible, so longer game-modes would be necessary(also when they get envovled into the game, the time go's by quicker), with possible class changes while in-game, also applying upgrades, or activating score-streaks. If you have a basic setup (Smooth and Dynamic) for example Phantom Forces, but if you extend it to Character Customization, Power-ups, etc. It'll be a great game to play and enjoy spending your time on.

What do you mean by powerups? |

Still looking for opinions on which of the 2 people would play! |

To be completely honest neither idea gets me excited but I'd say a combination of both would be best. You need different game modes for variation, and matchmaking (if you actually get it to work) would be an interesting new concept for roblox. |

I'm still debating how to set up matchmaking. Making a console-like menu where you pick your gamemode would be great, but you'd have to teleport to a different game (and load it onto your computer), and it'd be hard to do upgrades for guns and stuff like that.
On the other hand, hosting the games in the same server has it's pros and cons. Pros is you don't have to teleport out of the game, and it'd be easy for me to update guns because it's only one game. Cons is that you can't really chose which gamemode you want. |

The problem you'd have with the "pick your game mode" gui idea is you need a lot of players for that to work. E.g Say you have 5 gamemodes but only 10 players who all want to play different modes, landing you with 2 player spreads. |
|
AntiFiterJoin Date: 2009-05-14 Post Count: 12290 |
I'm not really worried about that happening. I'm just worried about the previously stated stuff. updating gui's/guns over even 5 different games (4 game modes) would be tough. |
