"also how can they teach better than somebody who is CERTIFIED to do it for a living"
The ENTIRE BASIS of the Montessori method of learning is based on group realizations, and learning from classmates, and this method is slowly trickling into public schools. It's almost all students have an unconscious bias against the things their teachers say, and peers don't have that bias. Peer learning is being heavily studied and has been shown to give many benefits that direct teaching does not give, so basically, you're wrong. |

@iron
well maybe YOUR teachers are "certified" but out of all the schools I went to, there are very few I have encountered |

What about trolls giving people wrong answers? |

also some of my teachers get mad me for asking a certain question. i asked my math teacher how to find the apothem of a pentagon and she started writing down random crap on my paper and explaining it super fast. she seemed annoyed when I asked her. pretty "certified" eh? |

"What about trolls giving people wrong answers?"

like if you make a thread asking how to solve a problem and someone replies with a plain answer, ask them to show their work before you write it down |

To be honest, I see no point to this. But I also don't see why not.

Just pay more attention is class. I'm not putting down the idea of a homework help subforum, but there is also Khan Academy. I used that all the time in school. |
|
PUSH5Join Date: 2009-06-06 Post Count: 8793 |
i will admit khanacademy is good for teaching, but look at the community questions and answers. it's so unorganized |
|
PUSH5Join Date: 2009-06-06 Post Count: 8793 |
it's hard to pay attention because my math teachers don't make learning fun |

"But look at the community questions and answers. It's so unorganized."
Which is why a homework sub-forum will also not be helpful. These sub-forums already exist elsewhere yet they are little help and most of all inefficient.

On second thought, I think it might become the next Global Chat as flame wars central, as after a point you're no longer learning things, you're forming opinions about things, so political things could come up, social, etc. and cause flame wars. |
