======================= Build A Fortune Official Support Thread ======================= This thread is for support for my game Build A Fortune. If you need help with this game, then please post here or PM me personally, however experienced players can also contribute in this thread too, for when I or a member of my support team, is unavailable. Please, to free up the post, do not post any off-topic content in this thread. This is reserved for players only. Of course, you can become a player by following this link: http://www.roblox.com/games/2047642/view Because I trust you've read this tutorial, type /skip in game and hit enter to get rid of the tutorial window. Easy. ======================= Tutorial. *Yawn* ======================= Yep there's a tutorial. Bear with me, it's important you know this stuff if you really want to have fun! -------------- Introduction -------------- This is a more in-depth version of the tutorial you see when you first enter the game. When you play for the first time, you will see a tutorial which will show you the very basics. More advanced instructions can be found here, in this thread. This will also cover the basics, but will go into much more detail about how the game works and ways to beat your opponents. PLEASE NOTE: Because you're here, I'll let you into a secret about the forced tutorial. There's a command called /skip that you can type whilst looking at it, that will make it go away! -------------- How the game works -------------- The game is based on a command & conquer style. If you've never played that, think of Sid Meier's Civilisation without the turn based bit. ie. This is a strategy game, it takes a little patience and dedication, but if you spend enough time playing, you'll get much better at it and it's a REALLY fun game to play! Basically, you invest your money into making more money. The more money you have, the more you can get that precious tech level up and win the game. Each round lasts 60 minutes, and at the end of it, the person with the highest tech level is the winner. If there are more than 3 tieing players, then no-one is the winner. If you win, and there are more than 3 total other players in the game, you will win the badge, even if you tie with another 2 players. Confusing? There are four main ways to play this game: * Get the most money the fastest, then do what you want with it, * Prevent other players from getting money, hindering their chance at winning the game, * Full out go for your tech level and focus on that pronto, * Play defensive and stop others from potentially hurting your progress. You can use any combination of these, but remember that you don't know what the other players are thinking. But you can see how much money they have, and what they have. Use that to your advantage! -------------- Getting Land -------------- When you begin playing, you will start off with 500 cash, 0 tech and no land (Unless a previous player claimed land before you started). You take land by walking over it, it will turn into your Team Colour. Land is used to build stuff on, as you can only build on your own land. PLEASE NOTE: If the land turns the WRONG COLOUR, It's a known bug. It will be fixed when the next tax collection comes in. It's very inefficient to constantly check and I need the CPU cycles for other stuff :-) -------------- Making Money -------------- To make money, you need to buy buildings that give you more cash. The oil Rig, Refinery, Village and the City all give you cash to use on other more strategic/targeted buildings. You can also make money by killing entities and players within the game, this will be coming in the release update so look out for that. -------------- Working the menu -------------- The menu that you spawn with has four buttons: Buy, Sell, Use and More. Mouse over the button to see a description, click it to enter. Click again to close. ### BUY ### The Buy menu is your most frequently used button. This allows you to buy items in the game, which will ultimately allow you to win. ### SELL ### The sell menu is how you sell your buildings. You will get back 50% of the original cost price of buildings. You can sell troops to destroy them, but you will not get anything back for it. ### USE ### The Use menu is a tool. This tool will allow you to spawn troops, by clicking on one of your barracks. You can move them around, by selecting troops and clicking where you want them to go. ############ You can also use this tool to buy Tech points at one of your Technology Centres, remember Tech Points win you the game, NOT CASH! ### MORE ### This menu allows you to form allegiance with other players. You can make them an enemy or an Ally, and in doing this, you will declare that decision publicly. ############ There's also buttons that allow you to purchase items with Tix/R$ to enhance your in game performance. These items give you a small advantage for a small cost. -------------- More on Buildings -------------- You will probably start off using your 500 cash to grab an Oil Rig and a refinery. Personally I think that's a smart choice, and the only choice at that to really kick start your chances of winning. Buying, at the start of the game, walls and stuff is practically suicide because you will not win if you don't make enough cash fast enough. # Oil Rig - This costs only 150, and will earn you 30-60 each round. # Refinery - This costs 350, and will earn you 70-140 each round. # Village - This costs 800, and will earn you 160-320 each round. # City - This costs a huge 1800, but will earn you a massive 360-800 each round. To defend your base from attackers, you can build the following buildings. These will help safeguard your hard work. Place these around your base, to stop people from attacking though the sides or the back: # Wall - This can be placed on an X or a Y map section, and has 100 health. This will destroy after one troop attacks it. # Reinforced Wall - This can be placed on an X or a Y map section, and has 250 health. This will stay intact until 3 troops attack it. # Tower - This can be placed on a corner map section, and has 100 health. This will help protect from players squeezing though your walls. # Gate - This can be placed on an X or a Y map section, and has 250 health. This entity stops players/troops that are not on your team, but you can pass through it freely. This will stay intact until 3 troops attack it. # Trap - This can be placed on a normal map section, and will kill one enemy before being Destroyed. It is hard to see, so you can place it strategically. The rest of the buildings fall under a kind of an etc category: # Technology Centre - This building has 500 health and is used to win the game, grab your use tool and click on the yellow box thing. First upgrade costs 5000 and each subsequent upgrade costs [Your tech level multiplied by 5000]. # Spawn - Allows you to spawn in your own base, instead of the standard spawn. It has 250 health, however. # Barracks - Allows you to spawn troops, which are used to storm an enemy base and destroy their buildings. In doing this, other players might not like you, but at least you stop them winning, right? # Elite Barracks - Basically the same thing, they deal 250 damage opposed to just 100, and also have more health, 250 to be exact. Proper elite. -------------- More on Selling -------------- You can only sell buildings, and these will sell for 50% of the original price. Buy an Oil Rig for 150, and it will sell for 75. If you attempt to sell a troop, it will destroy it and you will not get a cash rebate. You will earn nothing from selling a troop. I hope that's clear enough! Now don't go ahead and buy too many. -------------- More on Using -------------- The use tool is a powerful tool, that is basically used to win you the game. Get yourself a tech centre for 5000 Cash, then click the little yellow box thingy. It costs 5000 the first time around, and your Tech level will go up by one. Click it again, and it will cost twice as much. And so on. Grab yourself a barracks and click it with the use menu open to spawn a troop on the little spawn thingy. This troop can be controlled by clicking it, making sure it says it's selected on the menu, then clicking where you want that troop to go, whether that be an enemy, his base, an ally or even your neighbor's dog (Please don't actually try to kill your neighbor's dog with your troop, you may get a restraining order) Deselect all troops with the yellow button. You can click individual troops to deselect them too. Simples! -------------- More on More! -------------- So Remember I said you can buy stuff to help you win the game? Well this is an important disclaimer. Please don't buy cash like 1 minute before the game ends and then complain to me/my team when the game ends and you lost it. The button is designed for emergencies when you're about to lose the game, and need 5000 cash pronto, or when the game just started and need to get going quick, and don't want to wait around. When buying a premium product, click the button that says ROBUX on it to switch to tickets, and vice versa. It's a nice option, isn't it? Hope you like that! You can currently (At the time of writing) buy yourself 5000 cash, or increased walk speed. This is all for you to decide what you want to do with it! As for the allegiance screen, click green button to make a player an ally, click again to neutralise them. The same works for making them an enemy. Every time you do this, every one in the game will know. The allegiance screen doesn't do much right now, but I'm working on making it so you can allow allies to walk on your land without killing them, and for your troops to walk into allied buildings without hurting them. ======================== Rules? There are rules!? ======================== Yes.. there are a few, and I need to clarify them. They're not very obvious, some of them! -------------- What is disallowed -------------- 1. Swearing in the chat. You will be muted. Guests will be banned. Yes, guests can talk, as one of the most important values of the game is communication. Do not abuse it! 2. Being a poor sport. This is a competitive game, and therefore you will be punished if you are a rude, unsporting player. 3. Hacking/exploiting. Release version will integrate scripts that will collect data about potential hacking. This includes modifying game scripts, or importing scripts that do not contain important signatures. Game value modification is also recorded, and I WILL use this data to report hacking/exploiting to Roblox. 4. Spamming/advertising. You know the drill. Spamming useless rubbish or other nonsense will get you muted/banned. This includes "This game sux wanna go play fall down a staircase?" or anything to that level. Just because it's not here, doesn't mean it's allowed. Most Roblox rules apply to the game also. -------------- What is ALLOWED -------------- 1. Taking other people's land... to a certain degree. If you annoy players by taking their land, they'll just /votekick you. Your loss at the end of the day. Do it only for strategic purposes! 2. Destroying an enemy's base. Being an ally to another player does not automatically make you immune from them attacking you. They can flip at any time. Be aware. 3. Helping other players. If you see someone that needs help, help them out! Don't wait for them to ask, as they might not do and leave. Notice that they spent their money on the wrong stuff, tell them to rejoin, etc. As a matter of fact, if my team sees you doing this, they will tell me, and I may reach out to you and ask you to join the team. Honest.

I like the game but it gets boring really fast. As soon as you get ahead its hard to have anyone catch up to you. Also I hope you add more structures. maybe support things like roads, parks and other things that while not only boosting collection values allows you to make things look pretty, not just have a huge block of cities.
