note, this isn't my idea this is my friend's idea he just didn't feel like posting it
terrible writing and formatting ahead
let me use an example in some of the privacy settings
the selections are:
all users
friends, users you follow, and followers
friends and users you follow
friends
nobody
now there's something called an exception list under each setting (that's relevant, not stuff like trade quality filter or stuff like that)
you add an exception entry that works like this
Users in [selected ranks (2)] of [groupname (1)] [are included/are not included (3)]
groupname (1): type in a group name (or copy/paste it) to select the group
selected ranks (2): a dropdown of check boxes, allowing you to select ranks from the groups (this selection area is greyed out until a valid group name is entered)
or the check box saying "All Ranks" to automatically select all ranks (unchecking all ranks removes all checkboxes and stuff)
or the check box saying "Clan Members" to include members of the clan (this one is greyed out if there's no clan, duh). note that this can be mixed with other ranks to allow those ranks plus all members of the clan if they aren't in any of the selected ranks
are included/are not included (3): two bubbles that show that they are either included or not included in your settings.
notes about this: you won't be able to do anything until a valid group name is entered. you must enter a valid group name in (1) to edit (2) and (3)
examples
ex. 1
Who Can Message Me
My settings are: All Users
Users in [All Ranks] of [Vocaloid Fans] [are not included]
This makes it so any user in the group Vocaloid Fans cannot message me, even though my settings say that all users can message me (main reason why I want this to be implemented)
ex. 2
Who Can Message Me
My settings are: Friends
Users in [Security/Manager/Supervisor/Designer] of [HECK NO! Magazine] [are included]
This makes it so any user in the selected ranks of HECK NO! Magazine can message me even though they are not my friends
IMPORTANT SECTION, OVERRIDE RULES
1. If your exceptions block a user that you follow or you are friends with, they are excluded from the exceptions. a new addition to privacy settings, the override setting, will choose if the override applies to people you follow, people you are friends with, or both.
example: pretend my setup is like it is in example 1. I have 2(?) friends that are in the group and my override settings say that friends are excluded from exceptions, therefore they are still able to message me
2. blocks bypass all overrides (aka they bypass all of this) if there is a user allowed to pm you through an exception, but you have blocked them, they will not be able to message you
question and answer time!!111
Q: why don't you just block people you don't want to hear from loser
A: do you think I'm going to sit down and block every single person in vocaloid fans? there's too many people in that group for me to do that and not enough block slots
Q: is it only for groups you're in or for groups you're not in
A: both
Q: why did your friend make you post this
A: he was too lazy and I didn't mind writing it out
Q: this is a dumb suggestion
A: 1, it isn't mine, 2, that isn't a question
Q: why do you hate the vocaloid fans group
A: many many reasons, and no it isn't just because I support mr. fisher
Q: don't you know that this will never be implemented
A: i know, my friend knows, we all know
Q: my question isn't on here!!!
A: reply to the thread with it then |
