After the recent elections for the Slovak Ice Hockey Federation, many believe that Igor Nemeček won re-election due to corruption which has apparently existed under his rule for the last 10-20 years.
He was opposed by a group led by former national team player Richard Lintner
A bunch of notable Slovak players and coaches, as well as many fans, are boycotting Slovakian hockey now (club and national teams). 27 players have already signed an open letter to boycott, and the list includes pretty much the entire Slovakian Olympic team.
