i get musicians (obviously) i get actors i even get most celebrities but why YouTubers? they don't even have a real job or any real talent. they just make garbage that panders to the lowest common denominator. there's, of course, always exceptions, but very few popular YouTubers are an exception to this rule.

YES! I watch quite a few YouTubers, and when I go in the comments on Dan and Phil videos especially, I'm sick of seeing the people being like "I WANT YOU TO F#CK DAN BUT I WANT YOU TO F#CK ME, TOO, PHIL!" and no comments on the actual content of the video. I'm also tired of seeing people obsess over Tyler Oakley and Connor Franta. They're both g@y, and I'm tired of seeing girls being like "IF YOU WEREN'T G@Y I'D F#CK YOU SO HARD!" Like no, pls stop and come back on the internet when you learn to have a decent personality. "I am not Abnegation. I am not Dauntless. I am Divergent. And I can't be controlled."

Those comments are creepy in regards to pretty much anyone, though. I've fortunately managed to avoid seeing very many of them seeing as my main object of affections is not particularly well known (although you do get the occasional person that says they want to do things to him...maybe not as explicitly though).

There are Buzzfeed fangirls? I can't decide if that's better or worse than YouTuber fangirls. Good lord...

Welp, my ongoing obsession with Peter Silberman feels a little less weird now. Thanks, Buzzfeed fangirls!

Is it really that odd? Think about it; TV is going to be gone soon. Movies will still be around, but that's because of people still wanting to go to theater. Pretty much all of all visual entertainment is going to be on the internet soon. In my mind, Youtube is the new basic cable (accessible and free for everyone to watch), and things like Netflix and Hulu are the new premium channels (like HBO and Showtime). So now, there's a lot of actors, musicians, and celebrities that are Youtubers. And yeah, there's a lot of low quality stuff, but there's some pretty talented people that make shows, music, movies, and other things that are purely on Youtube. Add to the fact that some of this stuff is just as good as Hollywood or TV entertainment, but a Youtube star tends to seem a lot more accessible to fans than some big Hollywood movie star. And Youtuber stars add to this by usually being pretty open with communicating via social media with their fans, so they come across as really friendly and willing to connect with fans in a way that big name actors/musicians/celebrities don't. So the fangirlism tends to be worse when it comes to Youtubers.

@briar, well someone watched Adults React To Youtube 10th Anniversary TV will never be gone in the near future, too many people watch it and they get a lot of money from it, also not everyone watches or enjoys Youtube! Like me i dislike youtubers!

"but why YouTubers? they don't even have a real job or any real talent. they just make garbage that panders to the lowest common denominator." thats not fair to say. for example an actor for lets say a disney channel kids show would probably rehearse lines for a week or two, and get filming done in a week. where as youtubers have to plan, preform, and edit. I am 100% not a fangirl and yes they are wild but so are all fangirls. idk just my onion. life is the rarest pepe of them all.

I don't find it sad. They're exactly the same as any other celebrity whether they be from television, etc. Think of it as being... celebrities of the future, because really, YouTube is where the future is heading. Maybe not YouTube itself, but the internet is taking off. Through the internet these YouTube celebrities that people "fangirl" over are essentially easy to connect with because unlike an actor, they aren't portraying someone they're not (in most respects). People get to personally dive into their lives from a more realistic point of view because really, all other celebrity lives are filtered through the media. Through YouTube, people are getting this unfiltered and raw content that really creates a deep connection with an audience. It's not about having a talent anymore with these YouTube people. It's more about being human. As long as these people continue to be healthy and good role models for children and adults alike, I don't see why we need to complain.

Most channels out there have really stupid fans too. *cough* Pewdiepie *cough* But some fan bases are smart enough to not be dirty. Like the fans of PBG. (PeanutButterGamer).

Just let people fangirl over who they want without being judged. To be honest I don't see why fangirling over a YouTuber is 'sad' yet fangirling over a musician, actor or celebrity isn't. You may think that musicians and actors are more talented than YouTubers but there are people who aren't interested in music and movies/TV but are in YouTube videos so who the hell do you expect them to fangirl over.

fangirling/fanboying over anybody famous is stupid. fangirls/fanboys act as though when said famous person is insulted by some other nerd on the internet, they're being attacked as well.

" they don't even have a real job or any real talent" technically they're content creators they're selling themselves, essentially. same with streamers. unless they've got feet under their upper legs, like linus media group or polaris, they also do all of their own PR, all of their own stunts, they're in charge of making their layouts on youtube/twitch palatable, and they're responsible for keeping their fanbase around i'd say that's a pretty hard job
