Unfortunately, I realize 75% of the population of players of ROBLOX are under the age of 10, so they use immature insults that make anyone with a decent IQ cringe to their core. However, as someone who is not straight myself, I find it extremely obnoxious that words such as g***a***y and hom***ose***xual are banned. I can't have a discussion about important topics that mean a lot to me, without getting banned for a day because I discuss my se***xuality. Like, oh no, kids might know what that word means! Fire rampages the streets, people are being butchered at church, chaos claims the Earth!! All because kids are allowed to talk about someone's orientation, right?!?! ...No.
I know children like to use g**a**y as an insult, but from my experience as a rebellious child myself, I find the more hidden and intimate a word is, the more I want to use it. Can we stop treating it like a bad word? Then it might not be used as one. Just my thoughts. |

Orientation isn't something you should be talking about on ROBLOX, especially seeing as the demographic of the website has shifted. If you want to talk about that, find a forum or talk about it outside of ROBLOX with your friends.
If the word is allowed, a number of people would just use it as an insult or someone would cause some kind of flame war over how someone used the word. It just wouldn't be used as intended - Kids can be hurtful, at times.
I do understand where you're coming from though.

I disagree. I feel that it SHOULD be talked about. It's not a dirty word or a bad topic. It is something very real in today's society, and should be open to talk about. Treating it like something bad feels very destructive. |

Whilst I agree a meaningful conversation would be of value (hey, I'm part of that "community" so why wouldn't I want that?), it's not for a website which is primarily aimed at people who are of a young age. It's not that it's a dirty or bad word - But a kids website just isn't the place to talk about it. Look at Clubpenguin, and other online games such as that - Do they allow it? No.
ROBLOX is meant to be a game; not a debating society.

Ive always just seen people try to use "g--a--y" as an insult due to immaturity, but I see more mature people use terms such as L[G]BT to describe their orientation, so I think that its really to keep the site more mature/less bullying

@ the no supporters, the fact that Republican parents might be outraged at the fact that g*a*y is used in an orientation matter instead of an immature insult, like they find suitable, does not fit as an acceptable excuse.
I'm not always like "HEY LETS TALK ABOUT LGBT RIGHT NOW, YEAH THIS IS WHAT ROBLOX WAS MADE FOR!1!!" So, please get that out of your mind. I'm just saying, Roblox is open to all people, and when the topic comes up, which is very real in today's youth, I find it very hard to talk about without having to use silly ways to by pass the filter, like someone above noted. |
