"Sounds like the Roman Torres deal may have fallen through when one of his former teams wouldn't budge on share of a transfer fee."

"Chepo, for whom Torres played in 2004-05, apparently had retained 25 percent of Torres' rights. But Millonarios (50 percent) and La Equidad (25 percent) had agreed to let Torres walk for free, as it was apparently his desire and he was going to be out of contract in six months anyway. Chepo apparently wanted $25,000, though, in order to sign off. While that may seem like relative chump change, the best explanation we can come up with is that the deal was already written as a free transfer and adding a fee would have required a new deal that would have come after the transfer window closed."
