Put a game at Cowboys Stadium, the Georgia Dome, Heinz Field, Sports Authority Field at Mile High Semi-finals at Lucas Oil Stadium and Soldier Field Final at the MetLife or something like that

It would be awesome, but an 8 seed that wins the title isn't really that deserving considering they'll have a record close to 10-2 while the #1 team went 12-0 or 11-1

I think a 10-2 or even a 9-3 SEC team (lets say LSU) that loses to Alabama, Georgia, and Auburn, but beats an undefeated Ohio State is well deserving of a title

my friend said an 8 seed playoff would be less exciting (no explanation given)

Not really, by your logic an SEC team can schedule out of conference cupcakes (as they always do), go 6-2 in conference play, while which being a pretty good feat, it's not fair to let them contend for a title when there's unbeaten teams that have played fantastic football all year

I don't like the idea of an 8 team playoff simply because it'd just turn into an SEC tournament.

If they play great football all year, have been undefeated against their own conference, and are playing a team with 2 or 3 losses that's supposed to be weaker, shouldn't they win without a problem? And if they don't, doesn't that prove that 2 or 3 loss teams in the other conference are better?

Tbh I think 6 is perfect. Have the 3 team vs. 6 team, 4 vs 5. Then have 1 vs. 4/5, 2 vs. 3/6, then take the winners from that game from the championship. It gives team still some leniency but not enough, going 11-1 in a tough conference would most likely get you in, 10-2 and you'd probably be out. In 2014's case it would be Bama, Oregon, Florida State, and Ohio State, with Baylor and TCU added at #5 and #6 (they both went 11-1). The snubs would be Mississippi State (at 10-2) and Michigan State (at 11-2)
