======================================================================================== The Vaktovian stood in front of a desk standing with his hands behind his back. He was wondering why he was summoned to the general's office. Typically this happens twice a month for simple sit-rep, although with more than just one officer to give a more thorough report from multiple perspectives. "Travis, several of the men have shown concern for you" AstroChemistry paused , " I'm getting reports about you behaving rather strange" "Strange, sir?" "As in not normal, captain" "Why would they say that?" "I have evidence to suggest some sort of disturbance in your emotional balance, and if this is because of the enhancements then - " "No, it's not" Travis refused to think it was the case. Could it have been the enhancement? The injury was serious and the doctor said there wouldn't be any issue with his mental stability. As grave as the injury was, there was always an easy fix. His body, torn, and beaten to a unrecognizable pulp, was that was left of the Vaktovian. Luckily he was discovered by a rescue team, and the doctors back at HQ did their magic. Though it felt as if a part of him died that day. It was an enhanced body built for volunteers of the super-soldier program and for soldiers too valuable to give up. This was the latter case, however it was never done before. Mechanical in nature, it came with all the bells and whistles. Only the necessary was included. Organs were kept but the rest of the body was cold and mechanical. Skin and bones were removed and replaced with artificial joints. Muscular system was also replaced with stronger hydraulic systems. In a sense, the afflicted was stronger but not his original form. "Very well then" said Astro , " I'll still be sending you to a support group for injured veterans recovering. Technically you still are injured and recovering " and he left it at that. Travis had no choice but to attend this support group once every month. He then proceeded his quiet walk back to the officer barracks, not stopping for anyone or anything. The end is nigh.
