Because of low activity recently and lack of true rookies, I believe that we can transform the league into a model like minor league baseball. Each OFL team should control one OCFA team. They can hire and fire coaches *With commissioner's approval*, and develop players. The teams should be able to sign free agent recruits to play for them, along with teams sending down practice team players to develop and play in games. The F/A recruits would be able to enter the draft, but the OFL practice teasers may not be able to. A team that sends down a practice teamer will always have their rights, but will not have the playing rights of the free agent recruit signings. They will always be a part of the OFL team and the OCFA team. However, once a week, before the first game of the OCFA, anyone who is on the OCFA's team roster will not be eligible to play in the OFL game that week. Once a team thinks that their player is developed enough, they can bring him back up to the OFL to play for them. I think the base idea for this is good, but it needs to be tweaked a bit. I really think this will make the league better. |
