Not really, below .500 teams could make playoffs, Arizona would have made playoffs with a .488 79-83 record, and could have gone 72-90 and made the playoffs still

below .500 teams make the playoffs in the NBA and the NHL. And occasionally, a really bad NFL division sends a team under .500 to the playoffs.

yeah it happens every year in the NBA Eastern conference and EVERYBODY HATES IT. They are pretty much an automatic sweep or 5 game series. It's not good sports entertainment.

that would mean that over half of the teams in the league would make the playoffs unless the league adds more teams, this shouldnt happen
