I made an idea like this a while back, but I can't find it. I'll just make another thread about it.
I noticed while playing a game that when typing foreign characters (¿, for example), it would be filtered and I would not be able to type it.
I find this highly unfair to those who need to use the foreign characters in order to properly and efficiently speak their language. For example, I've been taking a Spanish class, and I have an example used from it. In the Spanish language, "el" means "the", but "él" means "he". The censorship of these characters would make it hard to distinguish what another player was saying, besides the context. However, context should not have to be used to be able to communicate; it should be a free-flowing chat.
This would not include emoji's, as they have no significance in the role of a language. Emoji's would be blacklisted.

Also, this includes all languages. For example, Chinese characters would be allowed. I only focused on Spanish because I know it the best, besides English.

Don't use Spanish on an English site than, or you could ask Roblox to make a special version of their website just for people who want to speak Spanish. |

First off this is an American website
Second you can type foreign characters
Its usally ALT [][][][] some kind of four digit number |
|
|
@ano; I'm trying to think of the people in other cultures.
@Jingle; I didn't know about that. I thought it would be the same outcome as copy-pasting.
gg |
|
|
IIRC foreign characters you put in using ALT codes will be deleted or turned into spaces. |
|
|
@wonderful;
Truth. I just tried it.
gg |
|

It's not that the characters aren't allowed; they aren't supported by the system. I really don't think Roblox is going to add support for Chinese characters. |
|
|
@king;
It wouldn't really be fair if a Chinese-speaking person were to join. I understand that not everything is and should be fair, however I think that ROBLOX should add some sort of support for the characters.

it wouldn't be fair if someone compared you to a village-type idiot by your intellectual and cognitive capabilities, you'd have no chance
this bait is as worthless and weak
|
|
|
Then it's encrypting conversation like if they want to hack HQ in the future.
You need wee you to run you |

Support for OP
It's pretty unfair to people who speak Aribic for example. If they want to speak to an Arabic friend of theirs in game, they can't and are forced to type in English characters which they might not know how to speak English well.
'Nuff said. |
|
|
@Ano, you just made a thread about making a translator on roblox. Although it was bait, you are still a hypocrite. |
|
|
@jingle
go back to PC
ROBLOX is international; if it was solely american, then why do they have exclusives depending on the different country you redeem a ROBLOX card from?
ex. Ireland
ex. New Zealand
Support, although idiots might try filter-passing with accented roman lettering. Which I guess, can easily be filtered as well though.
|
|
|
im laughing at all these morons who support this idiotic idea
ROBLOX doesn't care about minorities
english-speaking users make up 99.9% of their total userbase
they don't care enough about that 0.1% in order to accommodate their needs to understand the website
give me one example of a video game community which has a translator
you want to know why NONE have translator systems???
BECAUSE THEY ARE IMPRACTICAL!
a company won't hire additional employees to accommodate that 0.1% because there won't be any profit in paying that extra money to create a translator |

You're a weeb
You dont get a say |
|

It seems really ignorant speaking a different language on a website made for English speaking countries. |

@jingle
I don't plan on throwing my own culture away for some xenophobic chopstick Asian culture.
So I'm no weeb.
Besides that
Go back to PC. You belong with the ro-rappers. |

@GodShows;
So you're saying that .01% doesn't matter? Even if it's one user, that user could buy a substantial amount of virtual cash, which might help pay for an employee's paycheck.
Sure, most users speak English, but I've been to many games where people were conversing in other languages.

Support, once I saw 3 foreign people talking, and they were getting confused due to not being able to say special characters.

That 0.1% doesn't matter commercially
a company doesn't care about anyone who doesn't give them profit |

ROBLOX is using fonts that already exist and already support these characters. If they are being unsupported for some reason, it is because ROBLOX wants them to. What is that reason? I don't know. But whatever it is, they did it on purpose.
Either that or I'm missing a crucial part. |
|

@jing
I already have negated your remark of calling me a weeb.
Don't use sad excuses.
Idiots like you belong back in PC.
