This is actually against the rules and if any coach is found telling a player to do this they will be fired and won't be allowed to coach a team again.

its actually due to kids beaten incorrectly taught to do it, causing them to have head and neck injuries. |

except that there's scientific evidence that heading a soccer ball is equivalent to a football tackle and it's an extremely necessary measure to protect the brain of youth players that have barely grown yet
Also, almost every professional is supportive of the new rules

Back when I played for under 13 leagues, this rule was almost common-place. Not the first time I've heard of it. Many kids (if not all) didn't know how to head properly and it was dangerous.
The "teaching" was just getting a ball thrown at your head over and over again until you did it relatively correct. |
