I can't say that about Slayer. I know of a lot of people on this forum who know nothing about them. In terms of popularity, Metallica and Megadeth were lightyears ahead and made them look smaller than they actually were. Not to mention Slayer had better songs than Megadeth, but that's just me.

slayer is about the same level as megadeth in terms of popularity
and megadeth and metallica only seem ahead musically compared to slayer because slayer started off as a venom worship band
but sonically, the only one who was really advanced for the time was megadeth, and they weren't really ahead of their time |
