I got this idea from another post. It was by Skittleblend, if I'm not mistaken. Some groups on ROBLOX steal the name of real-life companies and/or place their own trademark symbol in their names. Without permission from the owner of the company, it's illegal to use the name of the company and call it your own work. I'm not sure if it's illegal to place copyright symbols on non-copyrighted material. If it's not illegal, then it's straight-up lying. ROBLOX states in their Terms and Conditions "ROBLOX Corporation owns all the content on ROBLOX.com.". This means that they're responsible for any illegal activity. That means that there's a chance that the user will get away with it, but ROBLOX would be caught in a lawsuit and a legal case just because someone wanted to make a group about a real-life company. Citations were by easybib. It's a free bibliography website. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Works Cited: "ROBLOX Terms of Service." ROBLOX Terms of Service. N.p., n.d. Web. 26 Nov. 2015 (unfortunately can't find the original thread) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- gg

But see this is a game. If the companies "wanted" to take legal actions into hands it would be an embarrassment in court. Just imagine the scenario.. John: Judge, this so called game; "Roblox" used our company brand name as their group name. Judge: If I'm not mistake, you're taking legal action against a online kids game? Crowd fills the room with laughter.

Silly or not, it's illegal. The companies have every right to take legal action against another corporation committing theft. gg

Its slightly illegal, the only legal action they can actually take is the owner of the business name is taken and used in the same group, but if its only the group and used for another purpose? The company actually enjoys the publicity. This is called; "Unlawful Use of Name or Likeness".

Big companies most likely won't even find out about these ROBLOX groups and even if they did it would be very unlikely for ROBLOX to be sued from it.

@The; Yet some continue to use the group. @Rainbow; Just because they might not find out doesn't mean it's acceptable behavior. Even so, the companies have the choice whether to take legal action or not. gg

@Skeptical; Interesting thought. I never thought about it that way. People could use the brand name to sell ROBLOX products, and use DexEx to get money from it. I didn't even think of that! Nice observation! gg

Roblox already has this right and will remove the names of groups that break copyright if so asked by the copyright owners.

It would be legal action against the user, not Roblox, and Roblox does ban them when they get caught, nobody reports it though. The exception being sponsor companies, which want to be mentioned. Suspicious signature ( ͠° ͟ʖ ͡°)

@Ulrond; I was informed that they removed the Starbuck's group, yet there are still groups illegally using other companies names. gg

@Malconer; The Terms and Conditions of the ROBLOX Corporation state: "ROBLOX Corporation owns all the content on ROBLOX.com." If ROBLOX claims ownership to an illegal activity, then they've admitted to committing these crimes. gg

They own it, yes, but most likely the leader/founder of the group will be called in and be brought forth before the judge.

@Robo; I would say that maybe they would, but as I stated in the original post, ROBLOX states in their Terms and Conditions "ROBLOX Corporation owns all the content on ROBLOX.com.". Therefore, ROBLOX owns these illegal items. gg

I believe that companies that do not want to be represented on this site can simply file a copyright claim. I think most companies would be okay with this since it is free advertising.

@cyber; That's the thing, we don't know whether every company would like the advertisement. gg

It shouldn't be a problem unless they're making actual money from it, which, in some cases, it has happened. Support.

Of course we will never know if every single company will want the free advertising. However, if they discover it and do not want it, they can simply file a copyright claim. It's as easy as 1, 2, 3.

@cyber; It's a possible lawsuit, though, and would get ROBLOX a bad reputation for getting caught up in a legal case against them. gg

How about the audio? I don't think the player/roblox has the right to upload to it to the site.

I can't imagine most corporations give a crap. And for the ones that do, it's their responsibility to act upon it. As long as ROBLOX remains cooperative, they're fine.
