These two are not that related. People claim Iraq was a war for oil, but when you look at the statistics of where the US imports oil from you will find that:
1. Canada
2. Mexico
3. Saudi Arabia
4. Venezuela
5. Nigeria
6. Angola
7. Iraq
8. Algeria
9. United Kingdom
10. Brazil
Most of the US's foreign oil comes from Canada and Mexico. The US is also not in danger of running out of oil. Alaska has vast oil reserves and so does Canada. Maybe you should take somethings at close to face value. |

I don't think the argument is that we get all of our oil from them, but that Haliburton and other oil companies are taking advantage of the oil fields.
The fact we're getting oil from Saudi Arabia, and Nigeria is funny. I thought we didn't negotiate with dictators. I guess it's fine when they have something to give us. |

For now, it doesn't seem to show any signs of oil shortages, but this is only surrent for the year, showing that the current population in all of those countries will grow, and because of that growth, oil will become ever more scarce in the future, for the reason that we know oil is a non-renewable energy source that takes millions upon millions to build up then use. The imports from Canada and Mexico are reasonable because they are neighbors, and because of that imports are fairly cheaper to gain and buy from.
Alaska has only enough oil to surivie only one country, and not the world, so even if the U.S was resorted to going to destroy the last Alaskan Wildlife Reserve, and all that habitat, and for a miracle gained tons of oil... the world will have a different story when they realize this.. and the possibility I'm fearing is that Russia/China, because of loosing oil, and oil is important to their economies... invade Alaska, for that last of oil reserves.. because they say it's to big for one country..
But still, Alaska hasn't much oil, when you relaize how much gallons a day the U.S consumes, ever mroe for the World, in a day. Scientists use scanners, thumper trucks to investigate the gasses, and oils beneath, and it doesn't seem good for how much oil there is...
Go ahead assume they will be infinite oil reserves in the planet.. until that day comes, someone, has to use something else, because Oil doesn't last forever.
And besides why not go to renewable energy, instead of buying and using capital for the oil imports, it's just mindboggling that the U.S is not doing this oppurtunity on building jobs to make these renewable energy, sell them into batteries, and then export that in the World. We would gain Jobs, we would earn money from the World, and then raise our Dollar back to it's orignal state of the World's powerful money. |
