A Constitutional Amendment for Elections
BE IT ENACTED BT THE STATE OF ROCKPORT CONGRESS HERE ASSEMBLED THAT:
Section 1. Amendment IX (9) shall be created and called "ELECTIONS." This amendment shall contain all the Constiutional laws regarding elections.
Section 2. The articles for this amendment shall be as follows:
- Article I. One (1) term of government within the State of Rockport shall last three (3) months.
- Article II. Elections for each new term shall begin ten (10) days BEFORE the end of the current term.
- Article III. Officials shall NOT loose their elected positions until the term is officially over AND new officials have been elected.
- Article IV. The Election Committee shall be responsible for hosting Congressional and Mayorial elections during end-of-term cycles. The Owner of the State shall be responsible for hosting all elections for Governor.
- Article V. Mid-term elections are only to ocuur if an elected official resigns or is impeached mid-term. In this case, the Governor shall handle Mayorial elections, the Lieutenant Governor shall handle Senate elections, and the Speaker of the House shall host House elections. If the Governor resigns mid-term, the term shall NOT end. Instead, the Lieutenant Governor shall take the place of the old governor, at which point he/she shall appoint a new Lieutenant Governor. Should that individual resign, elections for a new governor shall take place, but it shall not affect any other positions and the term WILL continue.
- Article VI. No court justice shall be subject to election. There shall never be elections for news court justices. Court justices are to be appointed by the appropriate officials.
- Article VII. During elections, all candidates are required to abide by the election rules set forth by the election host.
Section 3. The regulations in the amendment shall be enforced by the Rockport Department of Justice, the Rockport Election Committee, the Governor, the Lieutenant Governor, the Speaker of the House, and the Owner of the State of Rockport.
Section 4. Articles III, V, and VII shall be implemented immediately. All the rest of the articles shall be implemented at the start of the next term. |
