Hence the name, this is would be a new surface that would be used to make certain parts of a part invisible. Example: Let's say you're in a house. In normal gameplay, you're not supposed to see outside of the house, but the outside of it still renders causing lag. So, to prevent lag, you could change the outside surfaces to invisible so it wouldn't render and prevent lag, without making the entire house invisible. Now, you could put a decal on an invisible block, but this is just more convenient and not as laggy as decals either. Q: Why not use decals? A: Laggy and not as convenient Q: Just set a part transparency to 1 A: Read the example, you idiot. Q: Well what would happen if you were to look through an invisible surface? A: Go into Roblox Studio and place a decal on an invisible block, then look behind the decal.

I don't think it would cause much lag unless it was this house http://www.roblox.com/games/217805913/rip-ur-toaster-may-or-may-not-join-at-ur-own-risk but I still support; we could make invisible cars and jets that only are seen on the inside :c

You must have a really crappy computer if decals make you lag dude

The surface of a block does not cause lag, its the block itself that contributes to the lag. You could make it a giant 4k picture of a skyline and it wouldnt lag anymore than if it was a completely invisible brick. If decals are causing you to lag, you need a better computer. the ony and only

I'm pretty sure invisible parts render anyways

It would still be a brick, it would still have a form and its frame, it would be the same as any other brick. But it would require some magic to make everything behind it look like nothing, which would likely cause it to lag even more. the ony and only

Decals don't lag unless the entire game is plastered with them on every block. This invisible surface would make a side of a part not render so you can look through it. Rendering parts uses resources, and if you set a surface to invisible it will make it so it doesn't render. It's not gonna be a big lag saver, but it is still useful for visual effects.

this would actually help with all rendering too, and it may or may not already be in the engine also, there's a specific factor that makes parts laggier than terrain, because parts have physics and a frickton of variables rather than terrain, which is just a seperate thought, so this could be added to parts to make them with less variables as if you don't need them
