A long time ago, many species lived together in harmony. However, the current Lich King began to crave power and wanted to rule over the other species in the land of Xuethea, but the four major gods and their warriors were sure to get in the way. He had a plan to beat them though, he would summon four beings capable of defeating the four major gods. While the gods gave a good fight, they were eventually defeated and placed into a realm where they were powerless.
When the Lich King managed to get the gods out of the way, he made alliances with a few other species and with that power, they could fight off the warriors of the gods. They did, and said warriors were sealed into the realm where the four gods were too.
That was several months ago...
After the battles, the world was plunged into rule of the Lich King and many races were subjugated. Magic is also kept at a low level for the lower races, and thus is hard to exploit without getting caught.
Currently, there are fears of an apocalypse bound to happen. After the rangers of Arminda were sent to investigate, what they found were high up north in the tundras. A pitch black vortex with an unknown origin was being summoned.
>Major Areas<
Anadon: North-eastern kingdom. Humans and the high elves are most prominent here.
Armidna: North-western kingdom. Dragons usually come from here.
Abagard: South-western kingdom. Many beastfolk used to live here before the Lich King took over.
Akrana: South-eastern kingdom. This one is a distance from most of the others, and is more tropical and jungle-ridden.
Aigroth: It is an island 60 miles off the coast of southern Abagard. Once a prosperous land, now a desolate wasteland. The trees are all dead, and only some orcs and kobolds remain here.
>Magic<
There are eight categories of magic, AKA the arcane arts. All are based off of the magic from The Elder Scrolls series. Powers that come with a species do not technically count as magic.
Illusion
Illusion involves manipulating the mind and senses of the enemy. It also makes it easier to cast spells such as invoking fear, charming, and turning invisible.
Alteration
Alteration can be used to change the fundamentals of physics and biology. It can harder the caster's skin, cause a lock to become unlocked without a key, or burden a foe with invisible weight. This type of magic is best outside of combat. Many thieves and assassins make use of this type to benefit their careers.
Destruction
It is the mastery of the spell effects that "harm living and unliving things, and include elemental damage, draining, damaging, vulnerability, and disintegration magical effects".
Conjuration
Summoning creatures and creating weapons with magic are two of the most beneficial tools a magic user can utilize. Conjuration connects the caster's mind with that of the summoned thing. Necromancy, a sub-specialization of Conjuration, focuses exclusively on reanimating the corpses of the dead sentient species and animals. This was seen as taboo by many magic users up until the Lich King took over.
Restoration
Restoration is dedicated to healing injuries, curing illnesses, poisons, and diseases, the fortification of attributes, shielding and preventing damage, and also includes some spells that manipulate the undead in various ways, most commonly causing them to flee.
Mysticism
Mysticism can unravel the mysteries of the universe if applied properly. It can also tell one what is around the corner, lying in wait for a hapless hunter to wander by. Not much is known about this type of magic other than that.
Enchanting
Involves adding a magical enchantment to an inanimate object, causing them to have special effects. An enchantment is a spell sealed, trapped into an object to confer mystical attributes, which are supported by Souls. To create an enchanted item, one must have an unenchanted item, a soul gem of the desired size, and a specific enchantment that is known and can be placed on the item. Any type of unenchanted item can be enchanted, whether it be weapons, armor, clothing and/or jewelry, among others.
Alchemy
Alchemy does not actually use the essence of magic, but magic users and non-magic users associate alchemy with the arcane arts. Alchemy is the study and use of many materials with powers that may influence the flow of magic in the world. Alchemy involves a system known as an alchemy lab, and takes multiple ingredients and mixing them together to create potions. Potions are consumable items, and there two subdivisions:
Potions help by restoring and/or fortifying an ability or the effect of an ability.
Poisons, on the other hand, are applied to tools and affect the targeted persons.
>Four Major Gods<
Eirose, the god of war, primal nature, rebellion, and fall.
Ao, the god of light, free spirit, music, and summer.
Veyra, the goddess of moral law, honor, love, and spring.
Erebos, the goddess of darkness, mystery, ice, and winter. Though she is not evil her ways are dark and mysterious.
There are more, but these are the most prominent ones.
>Four Counter-Gods<
Othys, the goddess of infamy and pride
Oqmjir, the god of pandemonium and wrath
Hoptar, the god of doom and pestisilence
Payja: the goddess of bad luck and seduction
>The Alliance<
These are so far the species that the Lich King made an alliance with. Doesn't stop some from teaming up with other factions.
Orcs: A species that reproduces quickly via mud in caverns. They come in shades of blue or green, have pointy ears, and are 5-6 feet tall. They aren't that intelligent though.
Goblins: They are good climbers, and stealthy but are weaker in sunlight. They have shades of green for skin tone with pointy ears, and are around 3-4 feet tall.
Harpies: An all-female species who reproduce with human men. They have bird wings, feathers, and talons for feet. Known for being rather aggressive to most species.
Kobolds: A bipedal lizard-like race. Not that strong, but pretty fast.
Dark Elves: Like the High Elves, Dark Elves are skilled with magic, but especially dark magic. They have grey-ish skin, the same pointy ears, and darker hair.
