Arn looked at his controls. He'd met a follower of this Dark being. He wracked his brain for solutions, wondering if that evil could ever be purged. "You... You wish it were different, yes?" he asked finally before looking up through the viewport at the Being. "You wish the Darkness no longer had sway over my people?" |

The Station pulls itself closer to you, making its large size all the more apparent. Gazing at this Being now, you feel your stomach shrink. You feel small.
"We do not care in the slightest about what happens to "your people." Many Universes have been formed and destroyed, and every single one of them has been too large for Humanity to matter at all. Your race is insignificant and small compared to the vastness of the Universe you reside in. And, by extension, /you/ are insignificant. Do not make the mistake of believing that the existence of you or your race matters to us. You do not matter, you are simply one of many small specks that exist in your Universe." |

Arn looked at the creature in despair. "You /just/ said you wanted us to be a peaceful race! Isn't there anything that can be done about this... this Darkness?" he asked. He knew he should feel fear, but the Station was not Dark. What he felt now was a queasiness, a nervous tension. "The One Who Sleeps- him, would he know an answer?" |

"Many of us wished for Humans to be peaceful creatures, true. This was so it would be easier to control them. Since they are not peaceful creatures and cannot be used for our own purposes, we no longer care much about them. Darkness is innate in Humanity now. To try to purge the Darkness is to reject Human Nature."
The Station pauses and seems to think for moment.
"It is possible to do, potentially. The One Who Sleeps would likely know much about it, for he dreams of and observes all potential Universes, dead or alive, from his Palace here. You should stay far away from him. Many Humans have gone to visit The One Who Sleeps. Few returned. Many of them came to us and begged for death."
The Station pauses once more to think.
"We recall a recent Human who had been to the Palace of The One Who Sleeps. That Human is in the Jaota Sector of your Universe." |
|

Jaota Sector. That place. Arn was going there anyways, but then... How could he return to the Primeval Universe if he did go there /now/?
Arn had almost forgot about the shipment of arms and ammunition to there. Why had he chosen a warzone for his first big job? Why couldn't he have been carrying rations for refugees?
Perhaps that was the effect of the Darkness. Arn looked at the Being. "If I were willing to reject my Nature," he began, "and I went to the One Who Sleeps for this... Would I be the first human to do so?" He realized the question was a bit vague, so he quickly added, "First to go to him to learn about this, I mean. Did these other humans go to him for this?" |

"We don't know," the Station tells you plainly.
"Those who return after seeing The One Who Sleeps are rarely able to speak coherently. To gaze upon The One Who Sleeps is to be driven insane. The Human in Jaota only entered his Palace, but did not lay eyes upon him. That Human also did not tell us what purpose they had in visiting the Palace." |

Arn had it figured, then. He knew at least part of what he had to do. "How might I return to this Primeval Universe if I leave?" the voyager asked. "Can you bring me back?" |

"This Universe is on your ship's travel history, you can warp here whenever you feel the need. However, you have no control over where exactly you will end up here, and getting out can be difficult. If you are wise, you will not return here for the rest of your days." |

Arn frowned. He didn't know how to find the One Who Sleeps. "I need to see them," he told the Station. "If that's alright by you, I mean. Can you take me to his palace so that I can navigate there when I return?" Blushing, he quickly added, "I-if you have the time, of course!" |

The Station stares at you for a few moments.
"We can do so. It is your grave we will be taking you to, however. Please switch off your ship's engine so you do not risk waking The One Who Sleeps," the Station requests as it begins placing more of its tentacles on your ship. |

Arn did as he was told. "Will I see you again once I leave?" he asked as his fingers went over the controls, flipping the switches and pressing buttons until it was shut down. |

"It is unlikely," the Station says. Once your engine is shut off, the Station begins to drag your ship through the Darkness of the Primeval Universe. Eventually, you find yourself staring at an old, ancient looking structure.
A piece of land floats in the middle of the Darkness. Upon that land is a dark, sea-colored Palace that towers high. The entire building is asymmetrical, with spires and spikes on one side that don't match the other. None of the features of the building appear to be centered, even the two large stone doors are off to the left slightly.
The Palace is covered in seaweed and appears to be glistening wet, even though there is no water nearby. Along with that, strange runes and letters plaster the outside of the cracked building. Looking upon the asymmetry and runes of the building puts you at unease. Something is horribly wrong with this place. |

"Eh... So..." Arn had more questions, and not enough time to ask them all. "If I do reject my Nature... If the Dark is expelled somehow, will your kind enslave mine?" he asked. "You mentioned your kind wished to control ours. Is it possible this One's brother bestowed sin on us so we could also have free will?"
He gulped, hoping he hadn't crossed a line. |

"We are unable to do anything to your kind. We are trapped in this Primeval Universe," the Station tells you.
"We do not know for sure why your kind was corrupted by the Dark. Many have their theories, but all of these were dismissed when we ceased to cared. We do not think that the Darkness was infused into Humanity for its benefit." |

Arn nodded. Suddenly, a more... perverse question entered his mind. "What is it you... /do/ around here? It's pretty dark and empty. Does your kind still reproduce? Does entertainment matter to you?" |
|
Z0rr0wJoin Date: 2008-07-06 Post Count: 14027 |
"We no longer reproduce. We have no desire for pleasure or entertainment. We simply exist. Though... some of us enjoy to toy with mortals in your Universe. We cannot enter your Universe whenever we like, however. We must be summoned by some means." |
|
simsf1Join Date: 2009-12-27 Post Count: 10905 |
Arn looked at the Station with great interest. "So... Theoretically, /you/ could be summoned to my Universe?" he asked. "Do you ever want to leave?" |
|
Z0rr0wJoin Date: 2008-07-06 Post Count: 14027 |
"We could be summoned. But, we have no interest in the petty affairs of mortals. We are content to exist here in this dead Universe," the Station says with a very perceivable level of disinterest. |
|
simsf1Join Date: 2009-12-27 Post Count: 10905 |
"So... Is there any way I could convince you to let me summon you once in the future if I really need your aid?" Arn asked. "I don't intend to ask you to do any violent favors, but... Perhaps one time? Like you said, there isn't much you do here. Not to say that your time isn't valuable," he added quickly, "but... It's only a request. Besides, isn't there something you'd want to see? Like... A sun? An ion storm?" |
|
Z0rr0wJoin Date: 2008-07-06 Post Count: 14027 |
"We have already seen more than you ever will. Know that this Universe wasn't always dead. We do not wish to be summoned, we have no interest in your Universe. You should not summon any Beings. All those who wish to enter your Universe carry only malice with them." |
|

Arn sighed. "Of course." He almost felt ashamed as he looked down at his controls, now derelict from shutting down. Eventually, he looked up again. "Thanks, by the way," he said. |
|
Z0rr0wJoin Date: 2008-07-06 Post Count: 14027 |
The Station does not seem to acknowledge your gratitude.
"Are you ready to be returned to your Universe? We can send you to whatever Sector you want to be at there." |
|
simsf1Join Date: 2009-12-27 Post Count: 10905 |
Arn looked at the palace. "I can return directly here, right?" he asked. "Or can I at least navigate here when I come back?" |
|
Z0rr0wJoin Date: 2008-07-06 Post Count: 14027 |
"This Palace is on your ship's history, you may warp here," the Station tells you, before adding, "but if you value your life and sanity, you will never enter that Palace." |
|
simsf1Join Date: 2009-12-27 Post Count: 10905 |
"Thanks again. I can warp out on my own?" He'd lost all hope in convincing the creature of anything. Darkness bred nihilism, he supposed. |
