For some reason my first post was locked. |

Depends on the situation and where you are.

Well, never had it myself but I've talked to people who have, and they say they genuinely think they are going to die when it happens, so I'd assume so. Unless you're into that kinda thing. |

Uh, yeah it is.
I've had sleep paralysis many times, and it is pretty scary because the first thing you see is pure black darkness (Sometimes something from your dream could appear in your face) and after about 5-7 seconds it goes away and you finally regain control of your limbs.
I've had it before

yes, in my culture it is believed that a spirit is sitting on you.
A couple times when it happened to me, I asked it what it wanted, and it pushed down on me harder. Sometimes I tell them to get off and fight back. Recently I've been a lot braver and it hasn't happened. You just need a strong soul, DON'T BE SCARED. |

Yeah, I've had Sleep Paralysis before.
It's basically what Deritative described.

Wow, wasn't expecting so many responses.
I didn't even think it was common, thought it was completely rare. |

"I didn't even think it was common, thought it was completely rare."
it isn't common for a single person, but is common for someone to experience it at least once
and it is terrifying
you can't move and you typically see a shadowy figure in front of you like a nightmare that you can't get out of
;) |

I've had it a few times, it's not that bad so long as you're not dreaming, you just can't move, as long as you stay rational and know nothing will hurt you you'll be fine. |
