I've always thought about making some game based in or around a post-apocalyptic Boston (inspired by my own experience as a resident, and totally NOT inspired by the recent release of another game. No, really. Fine, maybe some TLOU).
After some close observation about the planned setting, gameplay mechanics, difficulty of construction, and other factors, I came up with this list.
-A zombie survival game (like Apoc Rising)
-A PvP banditry game with factions (like Apoc Rising, but without zombies, and instead joinable "factions")
-PvP survivor-based FPS
I ended up deciding on a PvP survivor-based FPS. In the game, two different bandit groups of survivors fight it out in various maps based on real locations in Boston (BU's CFA, Comm Ave, and the (in)famous subway are already planned). The game will have the specialty that weapons will be harder to use (because after all, you're still an untrained lucky apocalypse survivor), mostly realistic reload speeds, and high recoil for automatic weapons.
Here's some ideas...
-Weapons-
Every gun is made equal. Yes, this means that your flimsy starter pistol is actually a fierce competitor with that AK you've been eyeing. Weapons are earned either through cash or leveling (I haven't decided yet)
-Maps-
Some map ideas are already in my head, like BU's CFA (855 Comm), Comm Ave, Park Street station, and the Big Dig.
-Modes-
For now, just a giant DM, although if I get enough success I might attempt CTF. |
