As the title would suggest hopefully I'm not being stupid. Basically all I'm wanting to ask is are there any dev teams out there willing to take on a new "dev" I use the term "dev" lightly as I have not done anything whatsoever but I do wish to learn.

Yes, you're doing it wrong. Find a more appropriate title and exert confidence. Also open studio and do some stuff in it. People want experience.
