So I'm uploading a number of shirts today, at a high quality/image size, and the first one failed to upload. So I read on the Wiki as to why, and it specifically states the template has to be 585x559 or the dowload will fail. Rendering my image at this size, the whole shirt looks much lower quality, especially with text on it. I find this a bit backwards, especially given the fact that the image size limit on decals ended ages ago. I suggest that instead of a specific image size, the shirt upload gets switched to some sort of a ratio-based system, so that the shirt will only fail to upload if the ratio isn't correct (essentially, if you can't scale the image size to 585x559). I feel that this would really improve the look of shirts on Roblox, and offer players the opportunity to create high-quality clothing that is exceptionally clear and crisp. I'm sure a similar thing could be extended to pants as well. So for example, under this new system, I could render these shirts from my image program at 1236x1181. Since 1236 / 585 = ~2.11 and 1181 / 559 = ~2.11, this would fit the ratio requirements and thus could be uploaded as a shirt. In order to avoid too many issues with over-specific sizing restrictions, the ratio will be limited to two decimal places. (The above example itself is an example of why it should be limited to two places -- the width is ~2.118 and the height is ~2.117. Were the system looking for a specific match like this, the upload would fail, despite the fact that the ratio is essentially correct.) To conclude, I think switching the shirt template upload system to a ratio system based on the current shirt template size is a good idea that would allow higher-quality clothing to be made on Roblox. ~+~ Siggy Azalea ~+~
