That was actually my exact taste.
EDM, things similar to 21 pilots, and SOAD. were some of my mains until it got zeroed out into just hard rock and metal and got heavier and heavier
now I can withstand long black metal songs and enjoy them

my music taste as it went, starting from when I first listened to music in general:
nu metal, classic metal, poof, started listening to folk music (examples being the original Juodaan Viina and similar songs, not the korpiklaani cover) and a lot of comedy music until for a while i just listened to a pandora radio station of comedy music, then it was all gorillaz and that sort of stuff, at this point I had transitioned to spotify, and then it got into indie rock and alternative rock, eventually delving into EDM for a little bit and then starting to listen to hard rock and nu metal again, then it progressively got heavier...
And then I heard the ad for Ensiferum's new album, One Man Army.
I immediately listened to the first track and added it all to my playlist, until I made a new playlist, that one's a bit outdated now, so then I made another new playlist.
As of now, my taste consists of most death metal genres, a lot of black metal genres, power metal, and a lot of folk metal, a lot of which is melodeath aswell.
and that's how my music taste evolved.
