Library Code

The following document will present the rules and regulations along with the rationale behind the infrastructure of the library. As the place will continue to grow and change, the library code has full intention of keeping itself intact.
Library Code:
1. The ROBLOX Library’s purpose is to spread ideas around ROBLOX and to enable the youngest of generations to have a voice, encourage academics, and promote creative thinking. The main function of the library is to create books.

2. The ROBLOX Library shall be free for every Robloxian, every individual who desires to learn. Never will there be a price.

3. The ROBLOX library recognizes the process of bookmaking:
i. As an example: Regardless of the place having 50 players per server to none present, books will continue to be made.
ii. Author’s and book contributors will have their books made in the order received. The books with the oldest dates, the bottom of the message inbox will be done first.
iii. As an exception: People may demand books, which we will take into consideration and fill the most demanded shelves by moving those specific books up the waiting list to the front.
iv. As mentioned in Library Code number 2. , the ROBLOX Library will never profit from book making, librarians are not allowed to accept bribes to move books up the waiting list.
v. Librarians may have slightly different systems in which they make books, but will remain similar and rooted to Library Code number 3.
vi. Librarians do not accept plagiarism.
a) It is ok to have books with work not original, as long as some sort of credit is given to the author who made it. Example: “Author’s Note: This book was inspired by the song / poem / story of Justin Timberlake”

4. The ROBLOX Library has a NO FILTER POLICY:
i. As long as books ‘follow’ ROBLOX Code of Conduct, there will be no further regulations.
ii. This includes the behavior of librarians or library volunteers, they may say or behave in any way they please, as it is a place of sharing ideas and expressing yourself.
a) The purpose of the library is to serve the people, to make books. We will not control what is said around the library, and we will not promote fear or ‘authority’ that detains freedom of speech. We wish to empower all readers and authors. If you feel offended, that is your interpretation of what you hear. We are not going to control what you say or how you feel. You are grown up and responsible. Even as ROBLOX has a young audience, this place will give you the opportunity to experience that responsibility and maturity.
iii. It is impossible to measure accurately what is and what is not “offensive”, because there are millions of interpretations and backgrounds that individuals have and take words or actions very differently.
a) Imagine if my job was to make sure no one offended anyone, it would be a fulltime job, and my judgement of what is offensive will be misled and inaccurate. Not only would further conflict and aggression be promoted though my monitor job, I would of never made any books in the process, which is the PURPOSE of the library. Furthermore, hiring or having a volunteer with moderator powers would be equally as inefficient as me doing it myself, because they would also have an inaccurate judgement, and I would have to “monitor the moderators”, which leads to the same conclusion; not making books.
iv. If you feel offended by someone talking to you, there are a few options. You may turn off your chat in the top left of the screen so you may read in peace, you can ignore and understand what they say really has no impact on who you are, or prove them wrong; this is a place of opportunity which you may voice your argument!

I Would like to submit a book. i greatly appriceate ALL Of these books and they inspried me to make one. here it is!:Authors Note:This is a drama and in my opinion might be a horror book.Enjoy! Book title:Blue headed Fire Book:Hello My Name Is Seb. i've had a really mad experience with books.but today is the day my book was finally shipped to my house,Its called blue headed fire. i thought again about my experiences with reading. so i looked up the main character. blue headed fire. i drew a sketch of him. the next day i went to school and showed my friend the book. he told me that When you show evidence you show hatred. I Remember the last time he said that. it would not hurt to try reading it. i did and followed along. turns pout blue headed fire's name is Flame Dragoon. he's a dragon who's fire is up to 950434 degrees. i then went to the secret libary. me and my best friend keep it as a secret. i opened it and realized the teacher stole my picture of him. but i kept reading. suddenly dragoon popped out of the book and said the following:WHY DONT YOU TRUST HIM? YOUR FRIEND SAID. IF YOU SHOW EVIDENCE,YOU SHOW HATRED. THE WHOLE SCHOOL KNOWS ME NOW. YOU SHALL PAY... The next day a dead body was in the hallway with a bloody note saying:ITS ME. it wasnt seb, it was his brother. he then lies there Resting in peace. although my brother was nowhere to be found. |

This sounds really cool! I don't read a whole lot, but i enjoy writing things and expressing creativity. I usually write short stories and stuff like that, but i will try and contribute as much as i can! This game idea also seems to be really unique, since i have never seen a "Library" in roblox. Most games ive seen since ive joined are Obbys, Tycoons (early days) but nowadays, i see so much more things. I am glad people have put in a idea that will benefit people. |
