I built a lobby for someone (sold for 10k), that person sold it to another guy for a higher price (50k), and that new guy is selling it again for an even higher price.
This is unfair in my opinion, so to combat this and make the lobby worthless, I'm giving away that lobby for free (the place is uncopylocked). I'm not scamming my original buyer in any way since he already sold it for 50k and profited from it.
Enjoy! Make sure to upload it onto free models and spread it around! I wouldn't mind if you credit me, but it's not necessary.

You *are* scamming them by giving it away for free. They paid you ten thousand and now you're giving it away. No matter what they did with it, you're purposely devaluing and ruining what they bought from you.
While I think the lobby looks really good, you also just ruined your reputation as a reliable builder. Potential customers now know that if you become upset with them you will devalue and/or ruin the commissions you have from them. In addition, the people that bought it after your customer may not know, and so now you may just be harming people who didn't know.
I like how this looks, and if it wasn't for this security risk I would seriously consider hiring you for some of the lobbies I need built. |

Awesome work. They're wrong for taking credit for your work and reselling it. |
|
|
My original customer already resold the lobby for a higher price (a profit of somewhere around 20k - 30k due to taxes), so I don't see the loss? I'm okay with my lobby being resold once, but I lost it when the new owner decided to sell it again.
I haven't created any deals with the new owner; therefore I am not in any trust with him and I can do whatever I want with the lobby after that first transaction.
Once again, my first buyer doesn't seem interested in actually using my lobby; he gained robux from the deal. |

I agree with OP.
This is totally a rationnal response.
People are making tons of robuxes on his hard work while he gets no comission/recognition.
Advice for the future, watermark your stuff. It can be an important rock formation shaped as something that can be easily linked to you. |

mind if i use this for a lobby in a game im working on?
we'll give you credit and if its a success we'll pay you
lord of the pitch |
|

Smash, you're more than welcome to use it! You don't have to pay either. |
|
|
You sold the lobby? Then the buyer has all rights to it, he can sell it for as much as he wants. Don't understand what's unfair here. |

@xNitrospeedx;
If you spent hours and hours and hours working on something, then sold it for 10k and the buyer takes it and sells it for 50k and gives no credit, how would you feel? |
|
|
I actually would consider this scamming completely.
When you sold that lobby, you sold the rights to that lobby. You no longer had any ownership of that lobby. To the people saying he should've gotten credit, maybe, but he did get pay instead.
Now, the person who bought it for 50k owns the rights to it. He bought it from the guy who bought it for 10k. Neither you nor the guy who bought it for 10k owns the rights to it.
This is extremely shady behavior.

The first buyer bought it with hidden intentions of selling it. Which, if the original maker knew of in the first place, would have resulted in the original transaction not happening.
Almost every artists that respect themselves would not sell their creations to someone if they knew that he would sell it to make 4x profits. |
|
|
It doesn't matter what the first buyer's intentions were. Reselling is perfectly fine because you own the rights to it.
If OP did not want that to happen, he should have specifically made a rule against reselling or distribution as part of the terms of the sale. If he did, it'd be fine to uncopylock because the first person would have violated those terms. Otherwise, this is scamming.

You do have a good point there.
But selling something doesn't mean selling all the rights with it.
As a consumer, you can buy a book, and re-sell it after for 2x profits.
But nothing prevents the author from releasing for free unless the contract with the publishers said otherwise.
There was no actual contract with OP. Probably just something like : Hey, make me a lobby for 10k.
I saw a couple of times people making deals about building maps, to see them after a couple of minutes asking for people to make a map for cheaper in a different sub-forum.
Dark intentions since the beginning.
Intellectual property, I believe it's called. OP still owns rights to his stuff. It's his creation after all. |
|
|
If we're getting into the *legal* definitions of intellectual property OP owns nothing, ROBLOX Corporation owns it.

I'm going to say both of you are in the wrong.
Let me explain, see, when you sell something your giving away the rights to the project, as MakeLotsOfMoney said. When your doing that, the other player morally expects you not to give it away, in spite of it becoming free, like you just did. You got your money, now be happy, right? No, you get upset that its being sold for more, isn't that how it is?
Now let me explain how the others are in the wrong. They wrongfully sold YOUR build, but they had full rights. It was immoral, but you got your money and they got theirs. But they also were scamming you in a sense. Now, they never had anything saying "You may not give this away for free" did they? No? Just as I expected, so you kind of win there.
So in total, both sides are wrong, no actions should have been taken, and especially nothing like this.
