many people are upset on this forum because of their political ideologies, so i would like to share mine and have a very intellectual debate with fellow C&Gers.
donald trump's tax reform:
- if you earn less than 25k a year, or you're married and earn less than 50k a year, you will not owe any income tax. this helps them save extra per year, giving americans a chance.
- the tax codes will now only have four brackets: 0%, 10%, 20% and 25%. this is three less than america currently has.
- no business (this includes smaller businsses) will pay more than 15% of their business income in taxes. this lower rate will make america one of the best places in the world for businesses.
this is possible through removing loopholes or deductions only the well establihed businesses and the rich have access to.
trump recognizes that when income tax was introduced, only 1% of americans had to pay it. it was never a tax that was intended for everyone to pay. that's why trump plans to eliminate it for over 73 million households.

amount americans have to pay based on how much they make each year. as you can see, donald trump has a less intrusive "take from the rich and give to the poor" ideology.
donald trump is also one of the few candidates to recognize the help our war veterans need. trump's plan is to:
- ensure veterans get the care they need, no matter where they are.
- not only support a veteran's physical care, but also ensure their mental wellbeing.
- removing the incompetent VA members who let veterans down
he's one of the few candidates that recognize the importance of mental health, as he plans to increase funding for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury and suicide prevention services.
trump also strives to increase increase funding for job training and placement services (including incentives for companies hiring veterans), educational support and business loans.
lastly, he wants to fix the VA to ensure that our veterans are getting the help they deserve. trump says that the VA is outdated for our time, and he wants to reform it. not only that, but he will end the money waste and fraud by the VA, as well as modernizing the system.
as a side note, he will better women veteran's lives by making sure they are treated with the same respect as male veterans by VA members.
donald trump wants immigration reform. when most politicians talk about this, they generally mean they want cheap labour, amnesty, and open-borders. trump wants none of that. instead, trump wants:
- a giant wall on the southern border of the united states to keep the illegal immigrants out
- follow the laws previously passed within accordance of the constitution
to be more strictly followed
- improve jobs, wages and security for hard working americans
how will trump accomplish this? by making mexico pay for the wall. think about it. mexico has government approved pamphlets on how to illegally immigrate to the US. in 2011, the annual cost of free tax credits spent on immigrants alone was $4.2 billion. meanwhile, mexico continues to make billions on not only our bad trade deals but also relies heavily on the billions of dollars in remittances sent from illegal immigrants in the united states back to mexico ($22 billion in 2013 alone). how much longer can we let this go on?
mexico MUST pay for the wall and, until they do, the united states will, among other things: impound all remittance payments derived from illegal wages; increase fees on all temporary visas issued to mexican ceos and diplomats, increase fees on all border crossing cards, increase fees on all NAFTA worker visas from mexico, and increase fees at ports of entry to the united states from mexico (tariffs and foreign aid cuts are also options).
this is getting a bit long, so ill briefly go over the next main things:
donald trump wants to:
- remove birthright citizenship
- increase strictness on crime-related laws
- implement background checks for guns
- fix mental health system
- reform US - China trade
- attack debt deficit by eliminating waste in the higher levels of government

Rand Pauls Tax Reform:
Everyone pays 12% No more IRS and tax forms.
Donald Trump: Has no military experience and has never operated with the VA, and also has never reviewed legislation for the VA.
Rand Paul is a doctor, and certainly realized the importance of mental health.
A giant wall wont work, and mexico isn't paying for it. Furthermore, you cannot push and force a trade partner to build something they dont want to do. Mexico doesn't have to do anything; and we aren't going to sanction one of our closest trade partners just for a wall. There are greater enemies to the United States than one of our own allies.
Furthermore, immigrant work is human capital and a commodity, it grows the GDP and is a vital part of the economy. If you want immigration reform a better screening process needs to be funded, and the SPI net project that is going on in that southwestern region needs to be completed, which includes thermal cameras to identify and catch border hoppers.
--Birthright Citizenship: If you're born to an American you're an American.
--Increase strictness on crime-related laws: our prisons are already overpopulated and a private industry, the justice system needs to be reformed not expanded.
--Background checks for guns: Already done
-Mental Health System: This is a field of study and an area out of trumps control, as more research develops in the field it will get better.
--Reform US China trade: Only good thing on this post
--Attack debt deficit: Theres no way for him to do this by critically decreasing the amount of tax income this government relies on. There is absolutely no way possible he can find waste equivilant to 73 million households in a country that houses almost 400 million people.

ill admit, reforming the VA seems to be more of a minor goal for trump as a lot of his statements are vague without any actual statistics.
however, if america wants mexico to build a wall, they will. cutting off mexico from trading will harm mexico more than the US, and with more economic pressures as i listed in my first post, they'll no doubt build a wall for us.
and yes, while some illegal immigrants benefit the economy, most do not. they are willing to work for less, making americans lose their jobs. they can also rely heavily on welfare, costing tax payers millions each year.
birthright citizenship is fine in the sense you're thinking of. if you're born to an american, you're an american. that makes sense. however, if an illegal immigrant has a child in america, both the child and the parent are granted citizenship. this is an issue for many obvious reasons.
your point on becoming more strict on crime is valid, however we cannot just punish law-abiding gun owners for something criminals do. trump will also increase background checks required for purchasing guns.
the mental health system needs more funding to reach its full potential, and trump will provide that.
like i said in the first post, he is similar to bernie's thinking in the "take from the rich to give to the poor" ideology. most of this will be taken from those that fall into the 150k per year category, as 25% of their earnings will go to the government. while this will not cover everything, it will be sustainable for the american government

As much as I want to support Rand, it's fairly late into the race and he's still yet to give trump a run for his money (unless the upcoming caucuses cause an uproar).
The wall with mexico, as much as it'd be cool to have, theirs much more important issues at hand. Education Reform is also yet a strong which I'm yet to year from most candidates. |
