My problem with the maze runner film

At the end when they fly away in the helicopters there is a clearly visible that they could of flown over the maze and rescued everybody, why does nobody question this?

@Sam If they were brainwashed it doesn't show it in the film, it just shows them getting into the helicopters and flying off with the clearly visible centre of the maze with nothing stopping the helicopters from flying in and landing.

All I know is it goes like this; 'Some character from 'Wicked' a research facility sent a group of these guys as test subjects to get through a maze, which is phase 1. After being the newbie for a while the main character is found to believe the Grievers and everything that went wrong is his fault, so then some female co-worker of his appears and as the only female, well apparently that is another thing wrong. Then some elevator that would bring supplies up stops working so he decides to stand against the oldbags. After making it through the maze from a previous discovery with some other guys he leads them, losing some fat kid from a Disney show to die from a gunshot and, well then they hop into the helicopter to fly to some Wicked HQ.' SAM POUND IS NUMBER 1

@Sage It generally isn't a good idea to shoot at a sith guarded by Stormtroopers who can actually hit things.

@Sam Oh yeah about the girl, young adult female turns up in a colony full of young adult males who probably haven't seen a girl in good knows how long and they all treat her like an equal. At least a few of them should of gone mad after seeing a female.
