super bowl commercials were really at their funniest before all of the hype over super bowl commercials now there are large segments of the population that only tune in to watch the commercials, namely women who are uninterested in watching the game. as such, more commercials are tailored to fit a wider range of audiences, meaning that they become less funny to the segmented group that was the original target: men who like to watch sports
