Image you have 2 parts welded on top of each other. The bottom one moves around freely, but the top one rotates on the Y axis always towards north like a compass. What would be the best way to do this, without compromising the weld? Using Rotation/toEulerAnglesXYZ will kind of work, but once you get past 180 degrees, it relies on the X and Z axis? What would be the best way?

try adding parts on different parts of the map. make the "compass" point to the part you want.

That's great is the bottom part is stationary, but once it moves, it'll offset the top part's angle. What I'm asking for here is a way to counteract that.

You're going to have to "compromise" the weld if you don't want it tilting or rolling.
