We were severely underfunded, but it was still some of the best times I ever had. I was a freshman and most of the kids were seniors. They said I was actually pretty cool for a freshman (this was 3 years ago). Then the theatre teacher was, in my mom's words, "a Woodstock reject." In other words, she was kind of hippyish and disorganized, but she was still wonderful. And of course, we had no auditorium, so we had to practice in a cafeteria with a portable stage. Our scenery was painted shower curtains, classroom chairs, and a wooden crate. Our costumes were old clothes from the teacher's attic. Our makeup was the makeup that belonged to the girls in the class. Our dressing room was the classroom. We had a single spotlight and our sound effects were sounds on a boom box. It may sound bad, but it still kind of had its charm. Respect the science!
