All but two teams (Toronto and San Antonio) have played seven games, which means the regular season is halfway through and we are getting closer to being able to name playoff teams (believe it or not). It's been forever since I've done power rankings, and since Wist wants me to do them....why not? === #BEGINRANKINGS === [1] TORONTO // 5-1-0 (1st) Although they are coming off a forfeit loss, this team is still the best up to this point and is the obvious favorite to hoist the cup this season. You just can't turn down a team with Ghost, Tg, Somb, and a few others on a single roster. Many are asking me to lower the cap and always mention this team as to why it should be lowered - but it's because of the excellent draft that the Wolves had that has permitted them to build such a stacked team. [2] SANDY BAY // 5-2-0 (2nd) I contemplated putting the Havoc in third, but after thinking about it for a few minutes, there was no way that was even remotely possible to back up, especially since the team that would be above them would be the team they just beat last night. The team chemistry between the RektIts and Grab, of course, can't be beaten as of late. The Havoc are getting really hot at the right time...unless of course you're an upcoming opponent. [3] WARSZAWA // 4-3-0 (3rd) I have to say I'm actually somewhat surprised that the Hussars are only one game over .500 halfway through the season. It is somewhat understandable though, since this is a totally different animal compared to Season 14. I'm not worried that they won't make the playoffs, as that seems almost certain unless something completely awful happens to Warszawa. Death always knows how to build a playoff team, and this isn't team isn't an exception. [4] INDIANA // 4-3-0 (5th) And here come the surprises. I believed that Thursday's shutout victory over the Storm was nearly more than enough to put them over Detroit, although their 10-1 loss to Toronto this past weekend still looms in the balance as to why they are in a heated battle for the position they currently own. While updating the standings after tonight's games, I was astounded that this team, the same team that looked to be throwing in the towel early, now has more wins than losses. [5] DETROIT // 4-3-0 (4th) Two consecutive losses for Cheesey and the Storm, and that's concerning without a doubt. A few keep players could be on their way out before the trade deadline passes, and that may be a good thing or a bad thing in terms of playoff hopes. For the first time this season, I have some concerns as to whether Detroit will be able to make a good playoff run. This could be another version of the Portland Cyclones from Season 10 though, so I'll hold off on making predictions for now. [6] MONTREAL // 2-5-0 (7th) With the recent free agency signing of Tiny and a team that seems extremely optimistic about their current position, I honestly can't rule them out of playoff contention just yet. After all, they are only four points away from tying Indiana in points. While they might have had some help in the game against Toronto to get their first win, they earned their win against the Sorcerers. Now, it's time to prove it against contending teams and show that they have a chance in Season 16. [7] SAN ANTONIO // 2-4-0 (6th) Case really hasn't had too many opportunities to prove to me that he can successfully turn the Silverbacks in the right direction, but I don't see why he won't be able to. He's already made a few moves that benefit the team's salary limit and opens up areas in the roster that could be used to improve the team as a whole. [8] MOOSE JAW // 1-6-0 (8th) This is probably the only team I see nearly done for the season at the moment, even though many have already counted them out. Six straight losses and not a single "home" win. Not to mention that they've allowed 27 goals in just seven games, an average of nearly four goals allowed per game. Unless you have a really great offense, that's not going to get you anywhere...and news flash, I've seen better offense at the curling world cup. It's all part of the job though, P21 is just doing what he can. QUOTE OF THE W̶E̶E̶K̶ (FIRST HALF?): "If you accept me I will change" -Crackerjacker22, soon after applying for staff position. Went on to nuke the server with team admin less than three hours later. STAT OF THE W̶E̶E̶K̶ (FIRST HALF?): Entering games on Thursday, the bottom three teams in the standings (SAS, MTL, MJ) had a combined record of 0-9-0.
