It's real, it's just that its purpose is misunderstood.
It is, and has always been, an evolutionary trait designed to make humans develop a pack mentality, and to encourage reproduction.
Its purpose has changed over time as human emotions changed to suit different purposes, but its core purposes will always stay the same. Families wouldn't really stick together if they didn't love each other, just like prehistoric tribes wouldn't stay together if they didn't have that same emotion. In recent years (relative to the overall span of humans' presence on Earth), it has been changed from an evolutionary trait to a magical feeling.
Just kinda depends on how you look at it. It's undeniably real, it's been identified in the brain, it's just not all that magical.

I'm not entirely disagreeing with you, though.
The current idea of love is fake, that much is true. It's perceived entirely wrong. But the chemical process of love is very real, very observable, and a very central role in the survival of early man. Whether it's needed or not now is arguable, but it has its practicalities.

Alright, I just got a bit carried away, lol.
I spent like a whole two months last year just researching emotions and taking notes on them just for the fun of it, and I rarely get to use those notes for discussions or anything. Saw my opportunity and took it.

Yeah, I've got several notebooks just full of notes I took. I was just kinda bored, and thought it'd be interesting to read up on what chemicals make up those emotions, and what purpose those emotions serve. I got a bit carried away with it and the next thing I knew, I had already filled a bunch of notebooks.
