Don't know how this would be done, but we need it. Especially for known hackers of our games.

wouldn't this involve devs seeing IPs somehow?

Roblox I believe has players' IP's stored when they create an account, so all the developer would have to know is the username and Roblox would do the rest.

But they wouldn't have access to it, think of it like this: The developer sets up a list of usernames of the preferred banned players. When the game starts, a script runs that tells the server to do the following: Take the banned player Contact roblox telling them to ban a certain IP from entering the server Roblox does the entire process with a wall with only the required information seeping through to prevent the developer from getting the IP I'm not too keen on the technical stuff, but hopefully you get it.

Oh for the love of- There are ways for exploiters to to annoy people even with FilteringEnabled. Sure, not as big as destroying the whole game, but people can still force-sit people or loop jump them or all sorts of annoying crap. Furthermore, yes, developers should be able to see your IP. It's really not that big of a deal. Everyone seems to think an IP is this super secretive key to your computer. It's not. It's literally nothing more than a bunch of numbers that gives your computer a place on the net. Unless you're running vulnerable servers or have arbitrarily open ports on your router (hint: you most likely don't), there is virtually no harm in people knowing your IP. The only issue with this idea is people can change their IP. Instead, we should be able to see people's HWID or MAC. These do not change under normal circumstances, and most of the skids using Elysian or RC7 won't know about them or how to change them.

Even with FilteringEnabled there are still ways to hack into games, just look at every fifth Work at a Pizza Place server and you'll see what I mean.

Nope, NOT GONNA HAPPEN. 1. Devs can know where they live. 2. Changing of IP addresses... Yeah. change IP to dynamic, Or use VPN... 3. There's more better solutions mate...

This seems like a decent idea. Roblox could just make a feature that checks to see what IP address an account uses most often, then they could add a list in the Configure Place settings that lets you put in an account's name, and it will auto block the IP address that their account most often uses. There'd be no exposing IP addresses of people, and game makers could still IP ban them from the game. The only way this could be negatively abused then would be if someone hacked a game maker's account and started banning random people, but that'd be an easy fix, just go to the ban list and remove the new names.

At the very least let us retrieve a hashed IP address, here's how it would work: Localscript asks for user's IP User's IP is something like 1.2.3.4 This is encoded via SHA-1 Developer sees this: 09c35807ba47a82592ef88e5d6304ea699b8cbe2 This encrypted key is unique to that IP, and there is no algorithm to translate it back to it's original version. Therefore, we have a way of checking people's IPs without actually seeing their IPs. Everybody's happy.
