Now that's not the case (seeing I've been banned 5 times on my main for dumb reasons)

theres a criteria for the bans they give u and if its bad enough for a termination then u get term'd |

it depends on what you do
if it's swearing or ODing or something really inconsequential, the max is probably 3 days.
if it's something like stealing content or abusing links, you might be able to stretch it to 7 days.
if it's a string of offenses of the types above, you might get 7-14 day'd.
Termination really tends to happen to people who either exploit/cheat, are massive repeat offenders and have an enormous chain of 3-14 day bans from recent actions, or spread adult links.
That's the general criteria. It's more strict in times when there's a lot of issues(IE: during a pic leak on C&G when a bunch of people are getting banned and terminated for spreading pics) and more lenient when people aren't doing much.
They also tend to terminate alts without hesitation, especially if there's certainty that it's an alt of someone who's currently serving a ban.
