In terms of most popular sports in America, fans choose baseball. Of course when you have a 162 game season vs 82 you are going to have lower ratings.
Also, put lebron on a court and put in on National televison people will just watch it.
Finally, MLB consistently gets better attendance than the NBA, with nearly double the games. |

MLB is a very regional sport. A lot of the fan base will watch their local team, but not the games that don't include their team.
NBA is a superstar based sport. The common fan will want to see those superstars play in the playoffs every year.
I believe there are more people in the US/Canada that call themselves MLB fans compared to NBA. But that gap will close once the baby boomers pass by. |
